I am have a hard time putting my arms around the 07 wrangler. I love CJ's, YJ's and even TJ's, but this new wrangler just doesn't excite me. I just wondered if I was the only one or are there others that feel this way? Maybe in time it will grow on me, but for now, I would walk past 10 of them just to get to a YJ.

Nope, you're not the only one. I love my '06 Rubicon and wouldn't trade him for the world.

I enjoy the looks of my 06 Rubicon over the 07 and I really think the 07 unlimited stock wrangler is something only a soccer mom can enjoy.

Its just a matter of opinion I guess...my 2005 Rubi is never gonna leave me, and I will not go out and get a JK, but that being said...I have seen these things with the lift and big tires and lots of goodies that make em look pretty sick I must say...without a lift they are butt booty ugly I think what with those HUGE flares to cover the minivan tires they roll on...my $.02 8)

I dont care for them
not based on looks but on perfomance or rather what I see wrong "under the hood" as well as the bigger factor
that tends to miss lead the less informed
the belife is that it comes factory with 32's that must be better than 30's well my friend not if your break over is less than a guy on 30's
and not just me I have ~1 less ground clearance than a YJ on 35's but a stock rubi

give me my TJ for 2 doors and the KJ for 4

The 4 door jk favors the hummer to a large degree, and I believe thats unpurpose. Hummer has said that thier going to build a hummer that goes directly after the wrangler in the near future. Ford has said that thier bringing the bronco back, a true offroad capable bronco like the orginal with a removable top and straight axles. The competsion is stepping up.

I don't like the 4dr JK at all. Looks like a hummer and the long wheel base is not good. Then getting an expensive Rubicon only to mod it from there.

Wouldn't buy a JK until it has a lot more aftermarket stuff anyhow.

The TJ was a milestone product. Getting rid of leafs, putting on an excellent ride, etc. Tons of after market goodie and a great track record. Plus the good ole I-6.

I've never seen a minivan on 32" MT-Rs  . I must not be looking in the right place.

I like my 2006 TJ Rubicon I considered a JK but went with the TJ for the 4.0L the one of the last parts originally designed by AMC and they look better in my opinion.

i wouldn't have such a hard time with the '07 if it wasn't called the Wrangler. it's not! it looks suspicously like an H3. my hubby and i love our TJ and have said since day one that we'd never get rid of it, but maybe turn it one day into a pure trail rig. i happened to walk by an '07 with my mom and said "guess what that is? its the new version of my jeep" she said "that's disgusting what they did to it" and agreed that they shouldn't call it a wrangler anymore.

i too feel if you want 2 doors get a TJ, 4 doors get a libby, grand, etc. but then again, i even have a hard time with the unlimited...

I like my 2006 Unlimited Rubicon. I going to keep it from here on out.......take me that long to pay for it. I like the 2007 Wrangler. I think they will be a great replacement Jeep for the TJ. But I'm a little worried about all the electronics. I'm sure they have considered this when DC was building it, but the one 07 Rubicon I was able to see in person appeared to have a bunch of electronics. Electrical goodies are great except when exposed to the elements and sunk in water holes. Does anyone know how the electronics will hold up on these??

The end of the 4.0 I-6, was the end of wrangler as we knew it, it's 100% chryslerized now.

Yeah. BF Goodrich MT-Rs. I know. I have one sitting in my driveway.

Just fine so far.

I've seen as many 2 door H3s as I have minivans on 32" MT-Rs.

I'm not even going to get into the whole JK vs. TJ debate here. The thing is, when they introduced the YJ, everyone HATED it because of the rectangular headlights, if nothing else. When they introduced the TJ, everyone HATED it, because it had Coils intead of Leaf Springs. Now everybody considers the TJ to be the end-all-be-all, just like they did with the YJ before it, and the CJ before that. 10 years from now when they replace the JK, everyone will be cursing the replacement because they will be "trying to change perfection" or "tampering with tradition". Me? I'm a proud JK owner that isn't too caught up in tradition that I can't admit that I like my things to be nicer than sleeping in caves and cooking over open flame. I enjoy going out into the wilderness in my jeep, and frankly, I like the fact that it has satellite radio so I can listen to tunes and news while I'm out there. I like the fact that once I get back onto the highway the soft top doesn't flap in the wind. I like the fact that now MOST of the jeep community is starting to accept the JK as what it is - a worthy replacement for the TJ.

No one said that they were not ACCEPTING the JK. This has been a conversation of how it really is on the eye and some of the changes like getting rid of the 4.0 liter. If they had left the finder a 2 piece instead of one big piece of plastic it would look better to me. It has items on it such as the elec. sway bar disconnect that is bad stupid and it sits higher than my 06. The engineering got better but the look did not (IMO). BTW the YJ or Yuppie Jeep was hated because it was the first to offer options such as AC along with the square headlights. It was believed to not be as hard-core as the CJ.

When it came time for me to get my '06 Unlimited Rubicon, I also looked at the JK. While I still haven't come to terms with the looks, I had reservations about all the other changes and additions. I think I could have been persuaded if it had a bit more "real world" experiance under it. I feel there's just too much new and unproven stuff. In the end, I opted to stick with the "old school" technology and get an '06. If I wind up enjoying it as much as I did my '92 YJ, I imagine I'll have it for a dozen years or better.

Well that was pretty much why I looked to get a TJ before the JK came out. I didn't want to be the guinea pig with all the new fancy electronic stuff (especially in the first production year). And I knew I would want to mod it and I didn't want to wait too long for the aftermarket stuff to come out. I knew that I wanted the 4.0 because it is supposed to be so bullet proof and long lived. I didn't want to get a newer engine that hasn't been around long enough to really be proven. But when my Unlimited is at the end of it's life, if the JK is still in production, I have no problem considering it for my next vehicle. By then, any bugs should be worked out.

The difference between the yj and tj, they were still jeeps with 4.0's and 2.5's, the jk is all chrysler from stem to stern. That has an effect on how peeps see them. Noobs won't know the difference and all will be well in the jeep world. However I will say, bigger is not better in wheeling. All I can say, is that I'm glad there is a lot of cj's, yj's and tj's around, enough that I'll never have to buy a jk.
