ok, the 87 has stock leaves front and rear...i've been cataloge shoppin and finding 3.5" lifts to be around 650 or so....so tell me, whats the deal with a spring-over conversion, is it a crazy idea? too radical for driving on the street to the trails? i'm really kinda cluless.....would love some WAY FRIENDLY advice! thanks all! bob btw, it's an 87 YJ currently sportin worn out 30's |

I don't own a yj or anything but if I were you and money is a issue just go with leafs and save yourself money it will be an easy lift to install as wheel that is what I would do in your case. Leafs are just a rougher ride on the road and some say they don't flex as well but I've seen some old yj's that flex like crazy so if I were you I would go with leafs |

I no longer have a YJ, but even when I did it was always stock. However, my buddy has a 3-4" lift with leafs. He says the ride is better now than it was stock. Sorry no advice on the SOA. |

btw, it's an 87 YJ currently sportin worn out 30's My brother has a '94 with a 3.5" SUA lift ,Spring Under Axel, and it rides OK compaired to my TJ but better than befor I do know caused I have helped some work on their YJ's that with a SOA you CAN do it with stock springs but I want to say that it causes problems because the stock springs are week and tend to break What I do know is that some people who do SOA's go to stock Waggoneer springs because they are stronger or you can go with any TOP end lift with military wraped springs like the OME or even 4 wheel drive hardware has good springs from what I hear I want to say they have a double wrap with the 2-2.5" and SOA to get ~6" of lift and clear 35's easy That is what I would do |
