This write up is on installing a Cobra 75 series and Cool Tech CB antenna mount on a new JK 4 door. We need to get more tech in here so here is some to get the ball rolling.
The mount we installed is the COOL TECH Antenna Mount
The mount installs in the license plate frame assy. It makes for a really nice, hidden style mount that doesn’t require drilling any holes into the body of your JK.
Here is a pic of where/how it mounts up.
I didn’t include a lot of pics for the whole install process as the company supplies a complete, multi paged manual full of pics which make the install process pretty easy.
Here is where the antenna wire routes up through the rear fender are behind the taillight. It follows the factory wiring loom from here through a grommet and up to the dash area or wherever you want to place the actual CB assy. The wiring loom is hidden behind the carpet all along the driver side of the Jeep and up under the trim panels. It is hidden well and easily routed.

This pic shows how/where we installed the Cobra 75 remote box.
We didn’t want to drill any holes into the firewall or near the dash so we decided to place it under the driver seat. This area was easy to work in once the seat was removed. There is a great existing ground for the remote box as seen in the top of the first pic and access under the Jeep is real good under the seat. I was able to use machine screws w/ locknuts instead of sheet metal screws. Routing of the wiring was simple as you can run the wires right under the carpet to a loom running along the floor support. The only change I would/will be making is to turn the box facing toward the floor support and I will be changing the inline glass fuse to a mini-fuse and mounting it in the engine compartment.
The wiring to the battery was fun to figure out but I nailed it when I found a wiring loom/grommet running right under the battery on the passenger side. I fished the wire through the grommet and then up behind the battery area assy box/bracket doohickey.
Here is where the handset ends up laying on the console.
We really were not ready to start drilling holes into the dash just to hang the handset so we left it there for now until I, or someone, comes up with a killer place to mount it.
Anyhow, that is it. For the price, this antenna kit is awesome. It includes the bracket, (tig welded stainless steel), a sweet cable w/ mini-cable end and connector, a 4' Firestick antenna and hardware. It was Well worth the $86 shipped to the door and I highly recommend it for any JK. I will certainly be buying one when/if I get a JK.
