Well, I had to dealer trade 200 miles, but managed to get one of the last '06 Unlimiteds yesterday.
No more schizoid nanny computer for me. So my plans are: Stage 0 - CB mount - Firestik mount Stage 1 - Boulder Bars - Oil pan skid - tranny skid Stage 2 - 2-3" lift - 16x7 rims for my 235/85r16 Timberline MT's Did I miss anything? |

Thanks for postin pics...good choice. Did you miss anything Well, It has the D44 out back. I'm guessing it's still a 30 up front, but I'll have to look. I have a bunch of the safety/recovery gear from the KJ, so that's good. Just need the high-lift. As for the lift, I'm working into it backwards. I have 235/85r16's from the KJ that I love. I plan on getting a cheap set of rims for them, then running them off road only. (99%DD) So, what size lift do I need to acomplish that? |

Looks good moose. The Wranglers already have a tranny skid. It part of the cross member IIRC. Im not sure what kind of engine oil pan skid you can get if you can get any. I dont do alot of reading about those wranglers though. How does the power of the 4.0 compare to that of the 3.7? Does it seem to have as much get up and go? |

I really like the drivability of the KJ better, but I haven't gone off road with the LJ yet. Open air was nice yesterday |

You have a D30 front. There are only two choices D44/30 combo (which is what you have) or a D35/30 combo. There is no d35 front. |

I'm running 35's on my dana 30 front end so you should be fine with that tire size. As for oil pan and tranny skids. Rusty has one that covers the oil pan and goes back to the transfer case skid (shovel). It has a funky bracket that attaches to your control arm mounts and goes around your front driveshaft. It worked fine while I was stock and is good for short arm lifts. When I upgraded to a long arm, I switched to a Jeepmedic engine/tranny skid. It is 1/4 inch plate that has angle iron for attaching to the bottom of your motor mounts. It is also adjustable to accomodate if you get a tummy tucker for the transfer skid later. He also sells a TT which of course mates right up with the engine skid. I think I could land the whole Jeep on that skid and not bend it. Also don't forget that if you have two different size tires you will need to change out your speedo gear if you want you speedo and odometer to be accurate. They sell them for like $20 at Quadratec and they have a chart to help you pick the right one. Oh yeah, congratulations on the new money pit, err I mean Jeep. |
