Post subject: | '93 Wrangler clutch |
I'm looking to take the plunge...again...and I've found a '93 Wrangler that's got a decent body, frame, and engine but it basically has no clutch (pedal goes to floor with no resistance and bounces when released). Question is, anyone have an idea what the possible problems could be and what the repair costs could be? The seller believes the problem is either in the clutch hydrolics or clutch cable (not sure which is used in this type of Jeep). The price of the Jeep is just right for my budget but I don't want to spend the same amount again to replace/repair the clutch. Ideas and adice are welcome. |

probably a hydro. cluch I would bet that the slave cylinder is bad or a line is busted I would replace the cluch disk ,pressure plate and throw out bering along with the slave cyl. not a bad job I would try to have the seller pay to have it done on his dime so that you can test drive the jeep let them know that if every thing rides and drive good and it is as they say it is you will buy the jeep they should be ok with it with no cluch it could be masking problems with the trany If all is fine and you buy the jeep then pay the seller 90% or so of the repair cost if they refuse then you know it has other problems |

Great advice, thanks. I'll see what I can do to persuade the seller to perform the repair. |

I would say just be nice and let them know that you will pay $xxxx for the jeep as well as the repair IF that is ALL it needs be honest with them and dont have them repair it and then back out due to money make sure you can and will pay how ever if they ar not being honest with you and there are other problems |

Yeah, I'm not really the pushy or mean type so being nice was not a problem for me. When I talked to the seller about the possibility of him repairing the Jeep so I could drive it and buy it if nothing else major was wrong he started backpedaling. He wouldn't repair the Jeep even when I offered to draft a conditional sales document with the cost of the repair included in the sale price. The circumstances made me real uncomfortable as it seemed he wasn't being honest so I thanked him for his time and gave up on the Jeep. Thanks again for the advice Jason. |
