Another LOST Soul

Hey Howdy ya'll....I've recently (just last week) traded the Lib for a Wrangler. As many have said before, the decision should not be seen as a slap against the KJ. I loved my 05 Sport and had many great times in it. It was my introduction to Jeep and doing a self-install of the Frankenlift was my first mechanical adventure.

I also am very glad the good folks here at LOST decided to open up the forum to non-KJers. There's not a better board around (says me).

The major specs on the new ride are listed in my sig and of course more are coming. I look forward to contributing to (and benefiting from) the Wrangler board. And of course I look forward to seeing everyone out on the trail.

I like the TJs a bit better than the JKs...the size seems to suit trails better. I like the 4.0L better too.

Well if I'm gonna get L.O.S.T. (and I plan on it) I'm gonna do it in this.

btw...I just got the call from the good folks at Hoppers Auto: The Beast got a thumbs up! He was a little concerned about the custom trailing arm but sometime in the next year or so I plan on totally re-doing the rear. The previous owner put springs in the rear for some reason.

Oh? I thought Skyjacker too because of the red springs. So what should I keep a look out for?

Do a search on some Wrangler forums and see for yourself :lol:

Seriously though, they are NOTORIOUS to have horrible customer service. I have not experienced this personally but MANY others have. Ask round. They also suffer from the saggin spring syndrome (cheap booty springs), but that can be fixed with a nice aluminum spacer

Also their bushings I hear tend to wear out quick and their shocks are poor at best...again this is what I have heard I have stayed away from them for some of these reasons, but that dont mean you'll have these problems

right on - I'll keep my eyes open. The previous owner put springs in the rear (why I can't imagine) so I'll be heading in to 4wheelers here in Phoenix to get that switched back to a coilover. I'll have them do a sanity check on what's up front as well.

Yeah I read on another board that Kilby's first TJ got the leaf spring rear end swap. This isn't his first test rig is it? Some other people have done this swap to get rid of the control arms and track bars (simpler-especially when swapping axles). Either way, cool ride.

Who is Kilby? If he's here in Phoenix and available to talk with I'd love to! Also, there is a control arm in the rear...homemade by the looks of it...and the bar that runs between them (torque arm someone called it?) has a hairline crack in it. That's going to have to get welded up soon. I'll have detail pics available Saturday (stupid work).

Anyone have a welder they trust for doing a tiny job? :-)
