but the algebra seems to be a firm A+B=C where A is the off-road ability, B is the on-road manners and C is the total driving experience. That said, given that the new Liberty seems designed with more on-road comfort in mind it will have to be less off-road capable by that same measure.

Is there going to be a quiz later?

:D :D :D :D

Yes, most definitely. Be sure to know the approach, departure, and breakover angles of every vehicle in the Jeep line-up too, as well as the wheelbase, curb weight, peak engine horsepower and torque, final crawl ratio, towing capacity, density of seat foam, number of carpet fibers per square inch.... Good luck! :D

On a side note, I guess that equation doesn't apply to JKs. They're more capable off-road AND more comfortable on-road than a TJ, no question about it!

I have both a jk and a kj, and I had traded in my tj for the jk. I drive alot of highway. Hands down the jk beets the tj in road maners, its almost as good as the kj. I actually prefer driving the jk over the kj due to the seating is a little better in the jk. The 3.7 seems to have better high end than the 3.8 but,, I can pull all the way to 100mph with ease in my 2dr jk, something the tj couldn't do with the 4.0. Also My 3.8 doesn't knock and ping like the 4.0 did, gets way better mpg than the 4.0 and in a drag race only give a little off the line to the tj 4.0. But the biggest is noise the jk is way quieter than the tj,, top up(soft top) or down.. and actually interior noise is less on the jk than on my 06 kj. My kj has lots of noises,, or feedback,, sounds like a mustang or something.. and it is fun to drive.. but I find myself always driving the jk anymore.. In fact even the wife is thinking about trading the libby in on a 4dr jk..
Jeep has done their homework this time.. but is quickly dropping the ball,, they dropped the 4.10's for 08 unless you get a rubi..

That might have been for better gas mileage possibly. You could get the d44's with the 4.10's in the 07 Sahara. Personally, I thought it drove fine overall with the 4.10's

Own a KK Currently and Just had a JK for 3 days to screw with.

KK : 3.7L (Automatic)
Great On Road
Quiet at speed
Handles Great
Tons of Features
Still can offroad but nothing heavy or moderately heavy
200km city = Half Tank of gas
Electronic Transfer Case (Can hit 4x4 mode at almost any speed)

JK : 2012 Pentastar Engine (AUTOMATIC)
Great on road (Less Bumpy with softer suspension)
Wind noise is high
Handles ok (Softer suspension requires more attention in bumps)
Can have tons of features
Removable Roof
ROLL BARS
doo doo HANDLES!
Can offroad stock like crazy
200km city = 1/4 Tank of gas
Not a fan of the 4x4 mode

Still 100% hands down prefer a JK and so do my kids.
