Post subject:  Is there a better vehicle to rollover in?
People tell me, "That looks dangerous" when I show them pics from the trail. My patent response has always been, "driving to work is dangerous!". So I'm out on the trail all morning (I'll post the write up over on the AZ board) having a great time and coming back into town I catch a red light but when I tap the brakes the pedal goes to the floor. Downshiftdownshiftdownshift...not slowing down fast enough for the cars in front of me...yank the e-brake, lock up one rear tire and BOOM...in an instant I'm on my side and sliding top-first into a tree. No blood or broken bones. Is there a better vehicle to roll over in?!

Dang Seth, all the crazy shtuff you do on the trail and ya get bit on pavement... :shock:

Given everything I've seen in posts here, I'd say a Liberty :D I still can't believe some of the pictures people have posted of wrecked KJs that folks walked away from. Try putting a Hyundai thru some of these events and you'd be pancake city :shock: :shock: :shock:

I keep tellin' people: ON road is way more dangerous than off road!

The cop on the scene, the half dozen or so firemen and the tow truck driver all couldn't believe I had been driving the vehicle they were looking at on its side up on the sidewalk with a pine-tree-shaped dent in the roof and roll bar. Not a dang scratch on either me or my passenger. Not a scratch or a bruise.

Now let's see how the insurance company behaves :shock:

It's up on all fours and sittin' in my driveway. I'll post a few pics in the morning. The upside to the day is I finally found the Sunflower Mine and had a chance to use my new winch so I reckon I broke about even for the day. 8)

:shock: ummm...yikes! I always tell people I wheel w/ to be careful out on that nasty pavement crap. That stuff is hazardous and there are way more obstacles (crazy drivers) that can hurt you out there than there are off road.

It's amazing how quickly something like this can go wrong after such a good day. Glad to hear you're ok. I'm also glad to hear that another Jeep has held up well (protecting the passengers) in accidents involving rollovers. Jeeps are friggin' tough little suckers in accidents...thats for sure! :shock:

The same thing happened to my brake line. It got twisted out and was rubbing on my tire. When it finally blew I was cruising to a stop at a light. There was a shorter line in the left lane and I was able to swerve over and stop in time. I limped to the nearest parking lot and had it towed to the shop to be fixed. They replaced the line but I think it is a little shorter than the other side now. To keep this from happening again, I zip tie the line to my shock while on the road. It keeps the slack from twisting out into the tire. Then I cut the zip ties when I hit the trails. Hope everything works out for you.

Not as bad looking as I pictured in my mind. I'll be checkig my brake lines today. Think I will swap the old ones out for a new set I have and save the old ones as trail spares.

I know the 'clicky linky' trick...I had already typed in all those "[img]" tags and just said 'ta heck with it' when they didn't show up as inline images.

Yeah, I'll be zip-tying my new lines a'la chefdab as soon as it comes back from the fab shop!

Ya had to go there! I'm actually thinking about covering the new doors and the new hardtop in bedliner. Fraction of the cost of "real" paint and every dollar I can save is a dollar I can spend on something else :lol:. The goal is saving enough money to put the Detroit locker in the rearend.
