what happened to the Libby?
tranny died. Was driving to work tuesday before last and got a nice grinding sound when I put it in 5th. After that, ONLY 4th worked, which is the "limp" gear on a manual.
We were going to be trading it in in August on a civic hybrid and switching the stuff to my wife's 06 libby. So i already had everything that wasn't bolted down taken out of it. The dealer said $2500 for the liberty as-is, $3000 fixed.
So I put the stock axles back on and now have the 2 built axles sitting in the garage. fulltimer, I have no problem selling the from case, probably not just the gears, but the whole pumkin. I have a list of people that wanted stuff from when I did a feeler a while ago. I'll go through that list and see who wants what, but you'll be on it for the front pumpkin.
Was going to cost $800 for a used tranny. so what's the point of fixing it? I ended up getting a '92 YJ for 1k. Was an absolute steal. Engine is string, tranny is smooth, it's an auto, but oh well. now I can trade the liberty, and still have a Jeep without needing to hack my wife's '06 to crap, specially with a new baby (6-weeks old now!)
