best $250 i've spent on my jeep has got to be the aussie locker for the D30 up front. i just got back from the LOST-ECS at coal creek OHV park in TN and that little lunchbox locker got be everywhere we needed to go (and then i was the one who then got to strap non-locked wranglers and KJ's through). at least three spots this trip would have been a "turn around and quit the trail" events w/o this little baby. for those thinking about a little extra boost, consider a front locker (i'm partial to aussie, but powertrax is good too i hear)

and I hope they never are for the D30a. I think that would be too much for the housing. Now the 8.25... yes, a PowerTrax or a Aussie would rock back there. meh_kick was able to get up most places with a rear locker that i could with the front one.

Those "lunchbox" lockers are sweet and affordable aren't they? Of course there's a few drawbacks like not being able to turn sharp corners anymore in 4WD.

I had a Lockrite locker in my YJ's front Dana30 axle for six months before buying a Super35 axle for the rear Dana35. Since my YJ's only a 4 cyl I doubt that I'd ever snap an axle. A word of warning though, I have seen a six cyl TJ snap a rear axle and the Lockrite on its very first run. Maybe you should carry a spare axle shaft with you, I still do.

The Aussie doesn't have the same problem with disengaging like the LockRite, so I can turn just fine. It's been great on road and off, but I understand what you are saying about the axels (at least I don't have a 35!)

Still waiting for that rear Aussie to come out if it ever does. I'm in no hurry now though. I spent the $300 on something else for my jeep already.

If you like the front locked get the rear locked
I have a Detroit in my 44 and it is sweeeeeeeeeeet
I have an ARB up front if or when it fails I will probably go Detroit up front
They do make a power trax for the Dana 44 with Trac Loc but DO NOT GET ONE
They do not fit in the carrier right and this causes them to break or at least that is what we figured out about mine

I've got the factory LSD, so I have to replace the whole carrier ($$$), so I'm going to wait on that one, but yes, I think a Detroit or an OX is going in the D44 once I get to that point. (although, that will be a lot more than $250 :!:  )
