Some of you Wrangler owner's may have noticed "hood flutter" in heavy head on wind, or especially when passing a big rig on a two lane road. I put up with it for years on my '99 TJ. Having recently bought an '08 JK, I've been looking over the different JK forums and came across an easy and cheap fix for hood flutter.

Thread a zip-tie around each rubber latch. Do not over tighten as the slack will be taken up when you latch the hood. You may have to play around with it a few times to get the right tension. The result... no more hood flutter and unless you're looking for it, this cheap and easy fix isn't all that noticable. It sure beats spending $30.00 or so for stiffer aftermarket hood latches.

Great Idea! I've never had a problem with '00 TJ though. And the JK has no issue with the AEV hood either.

neat fix i especially like it anytime you use a zip tie (I'm just weird like that)... But I've never been bothered by the hood flutter, and i really don't see any issue in allowing it to keep going. But that's just me, I'm sure this is great news to someone who cant stand their hood fluttering. great post!

The backup safety latch on my TJ is a little rusty so whenever I'm driving faster than 35 mph my hood squeaks. No matter how much I spray it with WD-40 or use grease on the latch it doesn't go away. I hope this tip works for me. Thanks!
