Post subject:  Rubicon or Sahara

Been looking at the four door Unlimiteds. What would ya'll recommend..Rubicon or Sahara. I don't trail ride. Mostly highway miles and on the farm. Also, is the "09 model worth the extra money over the "08? Any difference in fuel mileage between the Rubicon and Sahara?
Thanks

Over on Expedition Portal there is a ongoing discussion on this very topic. I think it comes down to what you want it for, if you ever thought about doing any off roading then of course the Rubicon with better everything underneath would be way better. But for normal everyday driving then the Sahara would do.

Have you gotten any quotes in the difference of prices

If those are the only choices, then the Sahara.

Though you can darn near every option except the painted flares on the X model for a lot less than the Sahara. Heck since you are going for a street only vehicle (shudder) consider a 2 wheel drive. A couple of months ago, when I was looking they had left over '07's on the lot for 12K.

As far as differences between the '07, '08, and '09's. Early non-rubi 07's had a 35 in the rear vice a 44. Otherwise the same as an '08. From '08 to '09 they updated the freedom top clamps, and added a removable tray under the armrest, and a net for small items on the console in front of the shifter. All those parts may be ordered from the dealer, the net is 9.95, never checked on the tray. Not enough to warrant paying the extra cash for an '09 IMHO.
