Been nearly a month - time for an update !

Picked up a re-manufactured head on Thursday and today was spent putting things back together.

Head waiting to be attached to manifolds...

It's so pretty and new !

Everything back in it's place !

I still need to hook up the carb and get the rockers in place...

There's light at the end of the tunnel !

What kind of camera and lens combo do you shoot with Callaway. You've got some great shots. Also what photo editing software do you use?

I'm using a Canon XTi. The artsy shots above were taken with a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lense and processed via Photomatrix.

For HDR shots I use Photomatrix to merge the photos and tweak them.
Normal shots are tweaked in the Canon software or photoshop.

Today I replaced the drop pipe for the exhaust ( coming from exhaust manifold down to muffler ) - old one was rusted out and just plain crappy.

Also started the new dash.

Took old dash off...

Image

And cut a piece to size to make up the new dash...

Still have a mess of wiring to take care of - I have a new wiring harness, just need to figure out what the hell I'm doing with it :P

Well got everything under the hood hooked up as best I could as per the Chiltons book and I've got some electrical gremlins or something. The engine tries to turn over, but doesn't catch and won't start =/

SO, Built a frame work for the dash, finalized the location of the cb, and got the gauges more situated.

Frame work made for dash - two runners going back to the firewall hold the cb in place...

Image

The cutout allows space for the gauges...

Image

Choke in place...

Dash in place...

All the wiring under the dash is the old crappy harness. I have a shiny new set up that will be going in shortly :P

The dash is red ( crappy handheld camera sucks )

Good to hear you're going to make Nicolet 8)

Thanks guys :D

When trying to rewire I cut something I shouldn't have ( Thanks to PO's crappy wiring job ). Decided to scrap everything electrical related to steering column and move on.

Installed a dash mount ignition to the left of column ( was going to put it on the right side, but with the choke/cb/gauges it just looked really cluttered )

The black plate is a spare mounting bracket from the roll cage I made up a while back.

Image

Ignore the wires dangling under the dash - that's all old junk that will be removed...

Image

Switches for lights/accessories will be mounted above the ignition when I get to them.

I was able to get the engine to turn over, but can't get the car to start - not getting a spark... gremlins under the hood again. Have a buddy coming over this weekend - if all goes well the CJ will be pulling out of the garage on sunday 8)

The CJ Started this past weekend !

Got the new fuse box in and all the old dash wiring out. New dash wiring in and all gauges work !

Wound up doing the nutter bypass and the CJ started right up ! Was able to pull out of the garage and into the driveway where the cage was lifted into place.

The only pics I have are of the painted cage - by the time the the CJ was drivable it was too dark for pics.

There's still work to do - need to get some wiring squared away under the hood and have a bunch of vacuum issues to clean up as well.

Pics of painted cage...

I'll take more pics this weekend once everything gets straightened out :D

Thanks ! Hopefully it will never be used :P

Got some more of the electrical/vacuum issues squared away last night and now the CJ runs like a champ. The starter motor occasionally catches and will probably need to be replaced down the line, but for the time being it's a fully functioning vehicle again !!

Too dark to take pics last night, and too rainy to really play much outside today, but did manage some pics...

The listing of the vehicle is thanks to a leaky rear tire =/

New gauges doing their thing...

Hopefully all the loose ends will be taken care of soon and the CJ will be ready to go to the Badlands in 2 weeks
