Post subject:  Rubicon trnasformation to Brute

Okay so as some of you probably read, I sold my '02 KJ limited and bought a '06 Rubicon with just 11,000 miles.

I will just add briefly that it was a sad story how this purchase came about. The original owner never really got to enjoy the Jeep as he intended. And to him I say, Image You will never be forgotten - Semper Fi !

Okay so here's the plan. I have a friend who builds custom cars, hot rods, show trucks, etc here in the western 'burbs of Chicago, and I have bartered with him (sort-of) to build my Rubicon into a Brute. He is going to order the kit - although I'm not sure if he will end up ordering directly from AEV or through Quadratec? He is ordering through his business.

As for the bartering / construction, I am pretty much leaving it all to him, although I will drop by on occasion to check out the progress. In return, I am going to build him a old school chopper (74 Shovelhead motor) out of a '79 Harley he has owned for several years now.

I asked him to do some photo's along the way and he was more than happy to oblige. He too wants pic's for his shop. This will be a first using the AEV kit.

So for now, here's a photo from where I purchased the Jeep and what I will refer to as the "Before" shot.

I'll be back soon.

Yeah, me too. :D Meanwhile....

I am not building this Brute for hardcore off road use, but I do want it capable of wheeling trails anywhere. So to date, ordered mods include:

Teraflex 4" PRO-LCG modified lift kit (FOA coilover's)
Daystar 1" Body Lift.
JBL header & Flowmaster Super 44 Muffler (modding stock exhaust)
5:13 gears (in oem Dana 44's w/ air lockers).
BFG Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tires on 17" Walker Evans beadlock rims.
Currie Enterprises front stubby bumper w/ Warn 9000i winch.
AEV tubular rear bumper w/ recovery points.
KC Slimlites 8" on windshield mounts.
XM Radio / GPS nav syst.
Ext Paint; Harley Police White over Harley Pewter Denim (two-toned).
Mastercraft Seats - Rubicon; Dirtsport - Smoke - Grey (w/ seat heater & no rear pocket).

Likely more will be added before completion. Btw; I am going to have a lot of TJ stuff for sale in the near future.

Well, I hope you don't leave LOST just because you sold your KJ. We want to see those Brute picts...and the '79 Harley buildup too. 8)

The Brute kit was ordered from AEV. When it arrives, I plan to go over to the shop and take some snap shots, which I will share here. I'm really looking forward to this.

Sweet. 8) I know you said you don't want a monster trail rig or anything but that thing with those lockers, on 35s with beadlocks will be able to go anywhere you point it.

ps. Cross isn't allowed to leave LOST. DuPage is too close to where I'm moving in May. Must have LOST neighbors so that I can escape when the house gets too much

Where you moving to?

My garage is the "cool hangout" especially if you ride a Harley. 8) Got beer, billards (former coin-slot bar table) , high speed internet, and all the shop tools a guy needs.

Feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Okay so there is a new deal here. I traded the TJ and the brute kit for a restored '56 Chevy pickup. The truck is really cool, I'll post a picture of it later. I will still be building a bike for the guy who is doing the brute transformation.

Oh and if any of you want to dis me for changing my plans again, get in line - right behind my wife.
