okay I got some progress made this weekend, I found a guy that is going to trade me 3/4T for my 1/2T parts so I can go from a 6lug to an 8 lug and he is also trading me my 3.42 D44 gears for his 4.10 which Should match my 14B, I still need to count the pinion teeth, and then I shaved the 14B a lot!

I will post some pics if the camera battery will charge.

Stripped D44 down to the knuckles, the darn spindles gave me a heck of a time but I finally got them off, with some persuasion from a 4x4 and the back side of my axe.

I got them from a 4-wheeling event, Frostbite, both of my dents were from the Jeep sliding off a rock into a tree, the park had just gotten some rain and snow fall the night before the event.

here is the other dent I got:

I've allways been partial to a worked out Ford 300 I6.
Easyest thing to work on by far.If it would fit.

I got some new parts for the CJ and some more work done.

Image
14B spring perches, 1 piece and then bent, 1/4", 7" long to help prevent anti-wrap.

Image
14B U-bolt plates, 1/4" plate

I also bought all new U-bolts for both axles.

FREE parts!

Image
4.10 ring and pinion for D44

Image
3/4T D44 backing plates, spindles and hub/ rotor assemblies, I guy let me keep the hubs which are aftermarket Warn lock-outs!

Image
frame starting to be primered

Image
frame almost half way cleaned and primered

Image
the remains of all the 4x4 chucks of wood I used to remove the 1/2T spindles.

sorry its kind of a blurry picture but here is the frame all done! it received 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of primer. 14B is just sitting under it, trying to get it lined up right.
Image

new shackles made from 3/8", 4" from center to center, so I should get a slight lift from them, around 1/2" IIRC
Image

the tub, I cut off the rear half bc it was rusted out pretty bad, and I was just going to either redo it or do something like Callaway did, but I found a YJ tub for $125 so Im going to keep it with a tub. Im going to Denver the first couple days in July so Im hoping to pick up the tub then on the way home if we have room for it.
Image

Image

what the drive-way and yard looks like when I go out in the garage to work on it, but Ive been told I cant do this anymore, since my mom is selling the house, I have to keep everything clean now
Image

I got a little antsy so I went ahead and set everything on the frame so I could see what its going to look like minus the back half of the tub
Image

Image

14B installed with new spring perches welded on, I know they arent the best welds but we did weld both sides of the perches and as far inside the perches to make sure they arent going anywhere, and I know it doesnt matter but my excuse for my bad welds are it wasnt my welder and I didnt do any practice welds first.
Image

New Ford F-250 shock towers, these suckers are pretty beefy too and a great price at $15 each from the dealership!

yes sorry, I took some pictures about a week ago and I forgot to post them so Ill do it now.

Dana 44 Knuckles Painted.

Image

Image

Dana 44 Axle Housing. (I almost have the front axle reassembled, but I have a spindle bearing stuck in one of the spindles, but Ill try to post pics of it when I get it done.)

Image

Stripped Down 14B

Image

30 Spline 14B Axle Shafts

Image

Image

Front Suspension Bushing. (I ordered them from JC Whitney, but I ordered the wrong ones, so I had to return them and then I got the right ones. )

Image

14B Drum Brakes and Hubs

Image

Removing the Studs from the 14B Drum Brakes, Yes I am so cheap that I beat them out with a hammer, but I will probably end up replacing them.

Image

The 14B will be getting disk brakes from a 3/4T front axle. Ill try to post up some more pictures since I got the 14B cleaned and painted, front suspension on and hanging but thats about all Ive done, I am still saving for a tub, but I might be picking up a cheap XJ soon for the 4.0L and AX15 transmission. Oh and when I was cleaning the 14B I noticed I got a little 'grind happy' and shaved a little too much off from the bottom of the 14B so I welded on a piece of 3/8" strap to strengthen it back up.
