so my dad is looking at buying a CJ7... its in great shape but it has a full-time quadratrac transfer case. I've heard these are less than reputable TCs but havent heard why. what do you all think about quadratrac? BTW its a 77' with a 360, auto trans, d30 / d44 axles.

quadra trac got a bad rep because folks used the wrong fluid in it and never relaced the chains. They are great cases if you have a use for full time. you can put a part time kit in it and throw hubs on the front end and you are good to go.

from what I have been reading about the CJ's, the Dana 300 is the best and is real strong, it's what I plan on using if I can, then it the Dana 20. In the FSJ's that have quadratrac t-case they are drivers drop front axles, what drop is the CJ your dad is looking at? Typically CJ's are passenger drop.
