Post subject:  nice flex

i got some brake line extensions but i have to
modify them a bit to work, so yesterday on the
hidden falls run i just took the hex head out
of the factory bracket and ran with loose brake
lines. seemed to do pretty well. im getting
the extensions put on today though... these
things sure have some nice flex with just a bit
of lift.

Nice!!! Are you dissconecting sway or do you have antirock sway? My brake lines are free floating and never have problems with them just slight rub on longarms.

its the 4" rc 2.2 lift with upgraded shocks / ss.
lift came with new lower ca's all around.

tires are run of the mill bfg a/t's in 33x12.50xr15
flavor.

only thing i dont like about the lift is that it uses
rubber bushings on the control arm mounts and
they knock a little bit on and off road. plan on
upgrading all ca's before the year is out with
adjustables.

Skip the adjustable short arms and just go long arm. Talk about flex:

Chefdab what lift are you running? I have 6" skyjacker longarm but never need to disconect sway that much that's why I'm thinking about antisway, any imput on them? I see them alot, but never asked about them!

Shoot i know some 2 to 3'' short arm guys where i am at that well out flex a long arm. It's all about doing the right setup.

My buddy runs a 3'' SA with metalcloak front fenders and rear tube fenders. He can clear 35's and flex like a mad dog.

Heck with a Highline fender kit front and rear, you can run i think its 35's or 37's on stock lift. Put a 2'' SA lift with that and 40's are home to stay.

There are tons of way's to make them TJ's/LJs flex.

i see no reason to put a long arm kit on the jeep.
you can set them up to perform in ridiculous
fashion with a 4" lift. that is my wifes dd as well,
so i dont wanna get crazy with it yet. trying to
talk her into letting me put a 4bt cummins motor
in it. if that happens, ill turn it into a trail rig and
see what transpires from there.

for a dd thought, the lj kicks serious arse.

i would not go LA if it is a DD rig. I mean mine is a DD with a 4'' RK LA lift and does great. But if you can keep it short arm and build it LCOG

Not bad flex at all. You can get more out of the system your running easy.

You can get a short arm to flex nicely, but long arms will out-flex short all day. The long arms also improve your ride, so for a daily driver, they are the way to go as well. For a lifted jeep, they get the suspension geometry closer to stock, which in theory, is the best ride/handling. The higher you go, the steeper the angles of the control arms, and the worse the ride/handling. Long arms help alleviate that.

Actually INC i am going to have to say you are wrong. I know short arm systems that well out flex and go places that Long arms have problems getting to. The long arms and shorts both have adv/dis to the system. Short arms, depending on height worst ride quality, and long arms love getting caught up on the longer arm ha ha.

I can show instances where short out flexed long arm. But, that is not needed.

Actually I'd love to see a short arm out flex a long arm. Please provide pics.

Inc I'm def. with you on this one. Aren't long arms made for more flex? Just look at the two and add it up!! I'd lke to see the pics also!!

i wouldnt go over 4 - 4.5 inches of lift with a short arm for sure.
once i get some adj ca's, we should be able to get a bit more
flex out of it, but no doubt the flex we have now is about topped
out. with the adj ca's you can get the suspension geo back to
where it should be. the non adj is kind of the hindrence.

would like to find a rti ramp to see what the # is on the lj.

One of the reasons I went with the long arm was because it is my daily driver. I didn't want the harsh ride to deal with. I test drove a short arm lifted Jeep on 35's before I bought mine stock. Driving it down the road was an assault on the senses. I knew when it came time to lift my Jeep I didn't want it to feel like that.

It's the Rubicon Express long arm on it now. The limit on droop is basically the length of the shocks and brake lines. If the upper bump stops were any shorter, I would lose a spring easily. As far as compression, it is set up perfect for that. It stays just out of the flare when fully stuffed. If I did a high line kit, I could get more compression but then I would need to shorten the bump stops, which as I said actually keep the springs in. In both pictures, the sway bar is disconnected. It's not always necessary to disconnect. I have done trails with it hooked up that were pretty gnarly and not gotten stuck. You just have to be careful picking your line. Don't let a tire drop in a hole deeper than the flex will allow it to touch bottom.
