I am going to be getting my transmission service done soon on my LJ for my 30k maintenance. I have two choices of how it could be done. One shop wants to do the power flush which just flushes it out and replaces all the fluid. Another shop wants to drop the pan, replace the filter and top off the fluid. This will leave some of the old fluid in the system, especially in the torque converter. Also, if they drop the pan, they may charge me extra labor for the removal of my aftermarket skid. So which would you do? When I had the Liberty, I had the flush done, but only put about 4-5000 miles on it before it was totalled so I don't know if it was the right choice for the long term. (By the way, the LJ has the same transmission as the KJ did.)

don't do the power flush you will still have crud in the filter, the filter HAS TO BE CHANGED

my local dealership had that @ one time, they got rid of it, too many problems

have the pan dropped, filter chng, top off fluid, the old fluid thats left will not harm anything

Why not do it yourself? It's an easy job, just a little mess and shouldn't take very long. But will save some $.
