yea that is a hefty price for a TJ..I mean, they only jack the price on that because they think people are idiots to what it takes to build it like that...if anything all those accessories should be 50% of what he paid to the KBB price of it...in total..about 15k for it is about right.

Steve, I would never pay advertised price.

As for the CJ I was interested in, changing my mind again. I'm going to start seriously looking for a JK or maybe a really low milage & clean TJ after the holidays.

Well if I need to beef the trans, I would. But off-roading w/ a manual tranny is a real PITA as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not going new. Which is why I'm thinking I might end up with a TJ Rubi. I want something bada** that I won't be afraid to wheel like a banshee or break.

Inc; that's a nice rig! Too bad it's not a auto trans. Thanks for the heads-up just the same.

The JK auto trans is the same 42RLE that is in the KJ/KK. The problem isn't the tranny it's the engine. With the 6 speed you can work around the lackluster performance, but with the auto you're stuck. I agree I prefer an auto offroad, but I still wish I would have gotten the stick shift.

I've heard that AEV sells a fix of sorts, for the lackluster JK engine performance. Supposed to work really well and make the engine not feel so sluggish, plus it has other features as well. Maybe the 2 door won't feel as gutless as a 4 door too.

I've got a AEV ProCal. It doesn't do much for performance other fix the shift points for the auto when you've gone to larger tires. A Flashpaq is the best performance upgrade as for tuners available for the JK currently.

Bummer. I had heard they did more. The flashpaq is quite a bit more than the procal.

Oh man, a hemi wasn't in the planned budget of a JK. :juggle:

Yeah I took a second look too. I could always swap in a auto tranny.

Found a 2004 Rubicon. Asking price $16,999. Of course I won't pay that. Going to test drive tomorrow.

CarFax comes back satisfactory. No negative issues. One owner.

I'll let you know....

That all checked out fine. The CarFax report doesn't list any accidents. It drove okay for the short distance I went. Used a snow covered hill to test the air lockers, both seem to work fine. Oh and there is no hard top. This thing was purchased new in Irvine, California and retitled (lien at the time) here in 2007.

I gotta think more about this one.
