Opinions please...

My '08 JK 2 dr X is riding on 285/75-16 BFG MT KM2's. My rear fender flares rub a little when out on the trail, more if loaded with extra fuel and camping gear. I don't want to trim the fender flares, nor do I want larger tires than what I have now.

I've read over what I can find on the subject and am still scratching my head... so I'm asking for opinions on which lift to get. I use my JK as a DD and go off road on easy to medium rated trails 1~2 times a month.

Cost not being a factor, which would you guys go with:

- Teraflex 2.5" BB coil spacer w/shock extenders??
- Rubicon Express 2" BB coil spacer w/the longer Monotube shocks??

I'm leaning towards the 2" RE lift... your opinions please, and why??

Thanks

In the spacer lift arena, they all seem to be similar. I have heard good things about the new rough country 2.2 shocks. The rest of the budget boost shocks seem to be just that, budget.

However, if it were me I'd look for someone's cheap rubicon take off springs and shocks and pair that with a 2" spacer. That's what I ran on my rubi for 6 months with 33s and other than a little lack of articulation, it worked well.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions!!

Yeah, a BB is a compromise, but with the 2.0~3.0 trails I usually run, and my budget, it's all I needed to clear the fender flares and should hold up quite well. The RE kit came with spacers and longer monotube shocks. The TF kit used only spacers and shock extenders that screw on top of the OEM shocks. I felt the RE kit was a stronger setup, and put it on this morning.

I thought about Rubicon takeoffs as you suggested, but that would of given me 1" or a little over at best. Plus, I'd be buying used shocks something I'm not too keen on doing. I got 2" of lift all around going with the RE kit and from what I've read, the Monotube shocks are rated pretty good.

The TF shock extenders I mentioned above seem like a weak link to the TF kit (pic taken from a Project JK.com writeup):

Now all I have to do is convince Beth to let me put a lift on the KJ... LOL, that'll never happen. I'll just save up for a Co2 air tank instead.... :SOMBRERO:

I'd go with the TF 2.5. It comes with everything you need to lift it and will give you enough room for 35s. I'm not sure how much trimming you'd have to do with the RE kit for 35" tires. The RE kit doesn't come with extended bump stops, brake line relo brackets, track bar relocation bracket, or extended sway bar links while the TF does.

Trim your flares and you can run 35's w/ no lift...

this is what we did to my GF's moms Rubi. I like it but i think doing shocks is the best way.
I would go with the same lift expect with the shocks.

FWIW - I've recently heard great things from two local insane modded Rubi owners regarding northridge 4x4. I will most likely buy the TF lift I want from them.

Dave at Northridge4x4 is an awesome guy. He is one of those owners that would rather talk to you on the phone and bs for a bit too.

Yeah... the TF 2.5 a good lift, but with the RE 2.0 lift you don't need all that extra stuff. As for the quick disco's I'm going with the JKS adjustables. Also, on my X 6-speed with 3.21 gears, I'd really be pushing it with 35's, so again no need for the TF 2.5 lift.

BFG M/T KM2 285/75-16 with no rubbing...
