My boss has a a 07 JK X and he is experiencing what he calls death wobbles? He took it to a shop and they put on a new stabilizer strut or shock ( not familiar with the JK's). Anyways its still happening. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions how to fix this so i can get some brownie points for passing it along. Thanks for any help.

Remove the track bar to see if the mounting holes are not ovaled out any. Retorque to spec. Death wobble comes from your axle shifting left and right underneith the body and the trackbars job is to keep it in place. If it is indeed death wobble you should be able to find something. There are numerous things that can cause a severe wobble though. Last time I had one it was actually and brake caliper sticking on the driver side. It was doing it when I was not on the brakes and was also making my vehicle pull to that side. Lots of things can do it though. The steering stabalizer they installed certainly helps with larger tires but can also mask some problems. Could be bushings on the control arms or balls joints, like I said, lots of things. Good luck, hope he finds it soon!

My brothers XJ was terrible after the lift. As Dirtykk said we put on a ajustable track bar put on all new ball joints and it went away. 8)

Steering stablizier is never the problem or fix. There should be no wobble w/ or w/out a steering stabilizer. (i don't run one on my sfa and no wobble) Loose Track bar is the culprit of true "death wobble" which allows the whole axle to move side to side. Though other problems can seem like DW, they are usually just out of balance tires, bent rims, sloppy ball joints, really sloppy TRE's, allowing similar movement of the tires, not the whole axle.

Little update. He has found that his track bar is a little loose but also found that his tires are in bad shape. Like possible broken cords. He says they are "lumpy". lol. So he is lookin into new meat and keepin the track bar torqued to spec. Gonna see how it goes from here.
