Is there a way to alter the op temp on the 02 TJs? Don't really care to get into gigantic details of why it doesn't operate at 195 anymore but we'd prefer to not have an engine light on for the rest of time lol

yeah, we had put a new thermo in it

he had popped the radiator sometime last year, the garage at Lejeune replaced the rad but I don't think they replaced the thermo

He started having heat issues with it once it got hot this summer, i put a thermo on it, new radiator cap and put his mech fan back on and it was constantly trying to run at about 215-220 with the AC on, with the AC off it ran at 180ish

got more info from him today after i had posted this as to WHY he was getting a engine light saying engine does not reach operating temperature

it appears that he overheated it again, which the thermostat stuck wide open because that's what I put in it

He's finally going with what I had suggested the whole time. I think the garage at Lejeune put in the cheapest rad they could get their hands on and it simply doesn't have the cooling capacity to cool a 4.0 with AC

So i think he's just gonna get a new rad, put back in a new 195 thermo instead of a 180 and a new rad cap and see what happens

If it continues to want to heat I'm gonna put a manual pusher fan ontop of the AC core and wire it so that it comes on anytime the AC is on, other than the AC being on, it doesn't seem to heat

reason for the question was that I didn't know if there was a feasable way to change the operating temp on the ECM from 195 to 180 since it apparently throws a code at 180, but the questions pretty much m00t at this point since he's finally going the route i told him to in the first place

No way that I know of for the ECU.

But double check that the belt isn't spinning the water pump backwards.
