So we just got back from upland hunting and the rear floor was super hot! My father in law noticed it getting warm but this time it was radiating a ton of heat and the box of shells we had on the floor were hot to the touch. Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem? It was the rear passenger side. The TJ has 60k miles. I was wondering if it could be that the muffler needs to be changed out...?

I'd think its the muffler getting hot and radiating it into the interior.
My floorboard gets pretty warm right behind the passenger front seat right above the muffler and my muffler is 20 years old so it could use a changing.
Have you bedlined the interior? That will help keep heat and noise out.

No, no bed lining yet. Just the stock carpet. Maybe we will have to do that though.
