Post subject:  high output alternator

I just bought an alternator out of a 97 Grand Cherokee. It fits my 95 YJ and puts out 136amps. Most of the information I've found says I need to also change the wire size for the wire that goes from the alternator to the battery. There isn't 'one' wire. Can any one please tell me exactly which wires I need to change. I think I'll up the wire size to a 1 or 2 gauge. Thanks.

I have a YJ wiring diagram from the FSM in the link in my sig. Pull it up and find your year, it will show you where each lead goes to.

Upgrading "the big 3", the link is from an audio site but same concept for running lights, winches, air compressors that jeeps run.

Upgraded my big 3 after putting in high output alternator from a Durango. Blew my alternator pulling a buried 8600lbs f350 superdiesel on 37's. Superwinch still pulling strong:))
