Pfffft....dude, its only the engine block, and quite frankly, has more than enough power to move the Jeep.

The single best upgrade, if you want more "power" is to change to 5.13 gear ratio, thats about it. The motor is just fine.

Ya Right!!! :ROTFL: wish somebody had told me this last fall!! :-)r

if 200hp got to the ground i'd be nice. probably 95-115 when its all said and done. its adequate but not enough. and the fact they had the stones to come out with a 4speed is incredible. i love hitting a hill at 60 (because in a wind thats as fast as i can go with out being blown everywhere) and having it downshift to second gear. hearing the rpms scream at 4k makes me feel so great :banghead: . they dont need a v8, but they darn sure need to redesign the drivetrain and engine.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the new 2012 Wrangler getting the Pentastar V6?

It is going into everything.

According to pentastars.com: "The Pentastar engines were created by Chrysler engineers to replace the V6 powerplants used by both Chrysler Group and Mercedes. By the end of 2012, it will be Chrysler’s sole V6."

Which is why I think the Wrangler will be fine with the amount of power it produces.

Makes 305 in the Challenger and 290 in the Grand Cherokee.

Yeah, that should be a great motor for the Wrangler. :JEEPIN:

The Pentastar is a much smoother engine than the 3.8, and seems to put out more torque according to my "seat of the pants" o'meter. The transmission is different too. I'm told it's the same trans that the diesel uses. It has the same shift pattern and doesn't require a top off of the fluid at the plant, just like the diesels.

We just need the diesel and we’ll be good. :pepper:

Every time I ask the engineers about a diesel, they hang their heads. They want it as badly as we do.

I finally got to drive a new pentastar. Very nice. A great improvement over the 3.8.

DCS customs in Kalispell MT does Jeep conversions over to diesels. That's where I'm getting custom bell housing for my '79 F-250 so I can drop a 12V Cummings into it.
