I had 4.56 gears in my old 2.5L TJ and it performed very well on the trail, but it was challenged when it came to a hill or headwind on the highway and if you came upon both a hill and headwind at the same time you could forget about going above 96kph. 6th gear with the 2.5L can be forgotten as you lose way too much power to maintain that gear ony anything other than a flat road. Even though there are challenges with the 2.5L's power I still enjoyed my TJ which had that engine.

J-rod has a good suggestion to grab the throttle body off a 4.0L. I've read that it is suppose to increase performance a little, but I never tried it on mine.

Enjoy your great looking TJ!

Thanks guys, it'll get better over time, but for now.....the KJ is jealous :SOMBRERO:

It looked at the TJ for a while, then after all the attention we've been giving it... started crying (power steering pump dead) and then threw up...a bunch of oil from the gearbox.

So it's on high priority again, got new tires (Kumho KL71's) for Christmas, all parts ordered, date set at 01-14 for the workshop and then I'll pull the gearbox (again).

I hope you all have a wonderfull Christmas and a very happy newyear!!

PS: don't tell my KJ, but the TJ got something from Santa too :jester:

About the 4.0 throttle body swap, it's one of the first things you find on the web when you look to improve the 2.5. But, after investigating it better, the results are poor to say the least.

The best thing to improve the 2.5 ...swap it for an I6 4.0 :pepper:

I have a plan for an engine swap...it has something to do with a V6 DIESEL.

So Tony, when are you starting the swap? and why not the CRD as I have been telling you to do?

Fil.

Thanks, yeah, I am really happy with how it looks now. Except for the side steps, I am going to paint those black asap.
