I just talked to a supplier that makes parts for the new 07 wrangler. The diesel option will be available in the U.S. Jan 07, according to them.

On JOR they are saying you cannot get deisel in the U.S. But they could be wrong and there's always two sides to every story.

The Wrangler crowd will be VERY pleased if the 2.8CRD makes it into production. It propels my KJ down the road with no effort at all. I've added larger tires and a bunch of armor and the mileage has not taken a hit.

I've heard on other forums that people complain of the new diesel wrangler coming with the 2.8 diesel instead of the larger 6 cylinder diesel available in european grand chreokees. I can not imagine a better use for the 2.8 than in the Wrangler - it will really light it up!

They are going to be making the CRD when the 07 rolls out, but it will only be available outside the US (Canada or Mexico). According to my source, the CRD will be available in the US in Jan approx. I can't wait to see a CRD rubi. :D We have to be cautious though. They might postpone it till later or like the liberty only offer the CRD in certain trim levels. I hope it is not the latter.
