However I'm thinking about just using it as a second vehicle and wheeling the KJ more then this. The TJ is a 97, its paid for and has bumps and bruises but runs pretty good! Anyway here it is

Congrats! I like your thinking, get a Wrangler so you can wheel the kj harder! 8)

I know seems a little backwards doesn't it? Its not that the TJ won't get wheeled, it just has its issues right now. The KJ has been needing some stuff for a while, so its time to show it some love.

Here's some updates on my TJ since I bought it..

It was popping out of 4 low due to the body lift on it, it had a 2 inch body lift on it when I bought it and I lowered it to a 1 inch body lift. So after getting tired of messing with the stock linkage I said fawk it and bought the Novak cable shifter. I highly recommend it!

Here it is without the front driveshaft installed..
Image

For rear recovery I added a factory TJ rear tow hook,
Image

As added a CB antenna mount and reused all the old CB stuff from my last jeep..
Image

For kicks I added something from a rubicon..no I don't have lockers
Image

I have a factory auto tranny skid to put on yet..gonna take some drilling since these didn't come with the 97 TJ's at all
Image
I also need to mount my winch on it from the old jeep
Image

Kinda a dark picture but I pulled it up on the gravel pile in front of my house, they are doing construction work in my hood..

look good bud. You can get a new TJ mounting plat for like $50 or cheaper if you find a used one. Try Jeepforum or WranglerForum, and a lot of venders are having sales right now

yeah I found one on quadra tech that isn't badly priced. I'm finding the one its currently mounted too which is made for a YJ is gonna be a pain to modify. I will do some looking around, I also want to get a bigger battery though that can handle the winch too and some off road lights..

Other people used to call the YJ, the "phat YJ" so it just stuck I guess..This things build date is so close to my old YJ's I figured why not carry on the name. heh

Thanks! its a work in progress, I still have a power steering leak, and my tranny cooler lines are a bit leaky. the jeep wasn't maintained the best I'm finding. Things are slowly getting better though.

It sucks when you find out the person before you didn't take care of it. How fast/slow are those two things leaking? Some leaks are easy to fix. Watch out for rusted lines.

they are slow leaks, just a little drip when it sits over night in the garage. I think I have power steering nailed down from where its coming from. Just haven't fixed it yet and have been keeping the reservoir full.

Any leaks coming from the master cylinder area? Very dangerous. Don't ask how I know that.

There should be a pressure valve under the reservoir and they leak sometimes
