I have all new 2 inch coil springs, and 4 new shocks. What else do I need if anything to throw my lift on? Do I need to undo the track bars when putting on the new coil springs? I plan to undo the sway bars to move the axle around to get the springs out and in. Also whats everyones opinion on running with no rear sway bar on a TJ and just running with a front? My next question is, what do I do if the rear shock bolts break?

This is going on a 97 TJ by the way..

You shouldn't have to mess with the rear sway bar or the rear track bar to change out your rear springs. On the front you would probably want to disconnect your sway bar links & I don't think the track bar will be an issue. Would not suggest you run without the rear sway bar.

I see you have the cheezy OEM tranmisson pan skid sitting behind your springs. What do you plan on doing with that?

Well my first guess if the rear shock bolts break are to bring them to any hardware store and get new ones

The TJ has two bolts that go through a flange on the top of the shock. They are not real "robust" if you know what I mean. If you break them off you will have to drill them out and retap them as they are not accessible from the top. Major PIB.

Isn't it the welded nut on top that breaks all the time?

As for the trans skid, I was gonna put it on my Jeep however the 30RH pan doesn't seem to hang down as low the trannys they put in 03 and new TJs...

If you did use this skid, you would probably have clearance issues with the front drive shaft when lifted.

What breaks is one of the bolts at the top. (at least in my experience). Check out this post and you can see what the top mounting looks like. http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/how-to- ... 46392.html

There are several threads about putting on a lift, changing out the shocks (check Stu Olsen's site)

Cool, I will probably do this after the LOST bundy hill wheeling trip. Can't wait to get it lifted! Then I need to shop for some tires
