So we bought a 1957 Jeep CJ5 off a lady for $500 a few weeks ago. I couldn't load it on the trailer fast enough . The ladys husband had passed away a year ago and he had left this parked by his shop. When he passed away it was running. Our plan is to restore it to almost stock. We would like to lift it 2 1/2" and run 33" tires. Right now we are taking it down to the frame, and replacing everything. I want it safe enough to drive around town, or out to Kansas Rocks next summer. I will work on it as time and money allow and try to post pictures as we go along. Feel free to comment with ideas or whatever. I'm still learning some stuff as I go here The way it sat the day we got it home. Starting to tear it down. Down to the frame at last!!! |

Have 2 1/2" lift springs from ProComp on the way. Also started buying lots of odds and ends to replace everything when I put it back together. Have taken some of the body parts into work and taken down to the steel and sprayed with some Olive Drab Green |

Working on the 57 this weekend. It's taking longer than I wanted it to, but we still work on it when we have time here and there. Today we are cutting old brackets off and welding a few cracks here and there. |

Very cool! Great project. I have a 58 that I picked up, it is for sale if the right price comes along (to help fund my Jeepster project) but if it doesn't sell I'll save it for a future project. Are you going to keep the original drive train or swap it out? Keep posting so we can follow along. |

Just to get it running and have some fun. On down the road I'd like to put a 350/350 combo in it. We'll see though, that's a long ways off |
