My new rig has a 4" lift plus a 2" body lift. I'm not a fan of BLs so am already thinking of an upgrade.

Two options:
1. Go with a 5.5" long arm lift
2. Go with a 4.5" short arm lift plus a 1.25" BL. Kinda what I have now but a smaller BL.

I'll need to stuff 35s under it and am told a straight 4.5" short or long will not be capable of doing that.

Any opinions or experiences are welcome.

I would just get the 5.5 LA kit. although, if you need to save money, you may be able to cut your BL spacers down and save a few coin.

I would avoid anything over a 1" body lift. They seem to be greatly discouraged on all the Jeep sights I seen. The 5.5" RE long arm I saw on my buddys TJ was awesome. BUT he's running 35" tires and he thinks he'll have to get 37" to make it look right. The lift from the RE's seems to be really high. I bet with the 4.5" with a little space under the springs you could fit 35"s. I have one guy in the jeep club that was running a 4" procomp lift with 1.75" spacers and was running 35"s with no problems.

I just had a 4.5 long arm Nth degree lift put on mine, and I'll be running 33's. If you go with the 6inch 35's will be no problem.

Annette: Nth degree is pretty pricey isn't it? Like $3500 or so?

matt, I've been collecting parts in my garage and am just about to start on my TJ....

I'm going with a 1" daystar body lift and 1" motor mounts....this moves the radiator and the fan up and I don't have to lower the transfer case or modify the shift linkage....I wanted the clearance so I could replace the factory belly skid with a teraflex belly up plate....and a kilby gas tank skid....

I also bought a rubicon express 4.5 inch "superflex" kit (short arm) but with the 3.5 inch springs....I understand the rubicon express spring height always comes in higher than listed....I went with the 4.5 inch kit because it brings adjustable control arms...I have OME nitrocharger shocks....I'm going with 33" bfg m/t tires but was told I could probably get 35's in there if I wanted....you just have to consider your gear ratios....

the advice I got was the higher the lift, the more you want a long arm set-up....of course, it costs more....as the lower control arms leave horizontal and move to vertical, the ride is harder....I'm still learning but I think thats how it was explained to me....

Steve: if the 4.5" Superflex for the TJ is anything as nice as the one we put on our XJ you're going to like the ride. Better than stock, we think.

If you want to run 35"s go get a 4.5" and a 1" BL. A 1" BL doesn't look nearly as bad as the 2" BL. Plus, your CoG will be lower. Many times the 5.5" lifts (like RE) are a good bit taller than 4.5".

use image shack because it can resize for you. The max size for an avatar is 150 x 150 pixels.
