Hi, I have a good friend in Fort Worth who is the original owner of a 1971 Jeepster Commando with 47,207 miles on the clock. It is a yellow 6cly convertible. It has no rust and has alway been garaged. It has not run for at least the last 10 years. The vehicle needs the rear window replaced and is soon off for a mild restoration. I last rode in the vehicle sometime in 1975 and was surprised to hear that she has kept it all these years. Anyone know if there is a market for this model Jeep? Thanks, Dave |

Kinda late, but yes, there is a market. '71 is probably the most desirable year for a Jeepster Commando. They had convertables, which had a fold-down top just like a car. They had a little "trunK" on the very rear of the bed. Most "convertables" are really soft tops, though. The vast majority had removable metal hardtops. It will have the 225 V6 ( It later became the 231 Buick), a D20 x-fer, D44 rear with a D30 front. It would have a TH400 if auto, or it could be a manny 3 or 4 speed. IIRC, www.americanjeepsterclub.org is the best site. |

Last I heard the owner flatbeded it off to get it running. I believe that the family intends to keep it at this point. Thanks for all the help and information. |

Try this site instead: www.jeepstercommandoclub.com Apparently there was a split-up. This board seems to have most of the old members. |
