I hope Tata makes the appropriate changes to the line up of Rovers so that we can have a diesel version, and the introduction of the D90 or D110 back in the states!

When I was in Kuwait we got to search these filthy POS TATA buses. They always stunk like curry and body odor. Thanks you Ford tards, way to screw up two good brands.

public transport buses always smell like BO.

http://www.sumogrande.com/specifications.aspx

that SUV looks really land-roveresque...no ground clearance, tiny tires for its height, and just generally square:P

the D90/110 hasn't been rehashed since its release...and there are no plans (as of now) to revamp it to address American safety standards. I wouldn't hold my breath. Buck up and drop the 25+ grand on a used, 10+ year old D90...all of a sudden...used TJ prices look very reasonable

I would rather get a 5.7L Hemi powered Jeep Commander. The Sumo Grande looks like a Mazda MPV.

the Hemi Commander is a LOT more expensive and probably drinks a LOT more fuel than the Sumo Grande. That's like saying "why'd you get a base model, 5 speed, 4 cylinder Liberty? you should've bought an H1"

apples to apples, man.

Also note that my comparing the SumoGrande to a Land Rover (looks really Discoveryish in proportions) isn't exactly kind.

Oops I left part of that out. I meant to say I would rather get a new Commander than a new Land Rover. The Sumo Grande looks like a Mazda MPV and is even uglier than a Land Rover.

Ford didn't do a bad job of LR. LR is as iconic an offroad brand as Jeep around the world. I hope the Indians do not mess it up! The two best 'out of the box' offroaders are still the Jeep JK rubicon and the LR Defender 90. Maybe Tata might sort LR's reliability problems?
