OH MY GOD that's the coolest thing I've ever seen. God it's a good thing I don't have much money because my yard would be full of old military vehicles. |

There are a couple of guys who shorten those to eliminate the 2nd rear axle & then put a trailer bed on the back to get what you see ton that auction. I've seen them sell on Pirate for about $8,000 as that one sits. AM General is a cousin to Jeep. It started under Kaiser ( who owned jeep at the same time ) as their government contract division and continued into AMC. AM General did not go to Chrysler when they bought out AMC, and it became a freestanding company. |

I thought about saying something but, figured you'd know the history a little more accurately. |

Wouldn't be able to do a lot of the trails in Colorado in that thing. Love it though. |

thats what i love about the thousands of army hummers around me [west point] the axles are high and there are NO low lying parts below the axle line. like, my jeep.. expecially the rear, has some kind of suspension that is near the sheel hub, and lies pretty low compared to the rest of the undercarriage. i want one!!! |

Yea with the portal gears they have in the hubs, the drivelines and tranmission actually sit higher than the center of the wheels giving much more ground clearance. This particular model has a 6 speed transmission and they come stock with crawler gears (which only work in 1st and 2nd gear and reverse). In first gear and in "crawl" range you have an effective ratio of 300:1 |
