Thanks. It's a fun truck to drive and it's the perfect tow rig.

Do you get diesel world mag? Besides the liberty being in there, they had the ultimate "hybrid". 99 F350, F450 suspension, 6.7 Cummins, Allison Trans.

I subscribe to three different diesel magazines and Diesel World is one of them. There are lots of neat ideas, builds, and other great information for aftermarket support, etc. At the moment, I’m only tweaking mine for efficiency and longevity. I’m averaging 21-22 mpg out on the open road. I might tune mine with EFI live for better towing power and to increase mileage. But before I do, I want to take care of all the inefficiencies.

Here's what the GDP Power-Flo intake manifold and GDP Air Boss Plenum look like installed. The results have been great. I have better towing mid-range power, lower EGT's and .5 mpg increase.

I love this post, might have to look into buying a Ram with a Cummins to tow a 5th Wheel camper here in the UK. Love the info.

Thanks! Keeping the truck practical is the affordable route for me!

The Ram Cummins is by far my favorite truck built since the early 90’s. They are good trucks and long lasting engines. The modifications that I have made simply make the truck more efficient and increases longevity.

To finish off my fuel system, I added the GDP Max-Flo Filter Inlet Kit. This kit is for those of us who have kept our OE in-tank pumps. The Max-Flo filter inlet kit replaces the last remaining banjo fitting at the fuel filter inlet and the small plastic line from the frame rail up to the inlet. The kit includes high flow stainless metric adapter, 90° pushlock fitting, 3/8" hose and clamps.

I don't even want to think about what those balljoints costed if they come packaged like that!

I was able to cleanup the headlights this evening. The Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit was fairly easy to do, but required several steps. For $20 bucks, I can't complain. They look much better.

I made the decision to replace the Toyo Open Country H/T with an all-terrain tire. The toyo's had 63,432 miles on them with 6/32nds on the fronts and 7/32nds on the rears. They still had some good tread left. The new tire is a Firestone Destination A/T in the same size (265/70R17, LOAD E).

I'm starting to wonder if the Filter Minder isn't working properly. Since installing the larger 42 pleat/3.75" deep filter, the Filter Minder hasn't shown any restriction. I just assumed that since it was a much larger filter than the original 88 pleat/1.75" deep filter, it was able to hold more dirt before registering a restriction.

Anyway, I replaced the air filter today which looked very dirty. I don't think I will stretch out the change interval this far next time. I also tightened the Cool Hose clamps on the filter side and the turbo side.

8/8/2006 (11,954 miles on vehicle) Amsoil EaA189 (11,954 mile interval)
12/12/2007 (30,266 miles on vehicle) Amsoil EaA189 (18,312 mile interval)
11/24/2009 (52,427 miles on vehicle) Amsoil EaA189 (22,161 mile interval)
10/12/2011 (76,735 miles on vehicle) Wix 49946 (24,308 mile interval)
11/28/2014 (112,096 miles on vehicle) Wix 49946 (35,361 mile interval)

Yes it is. I edited the post describing what the situation was. Needless to say, I'll be watching it closer next time.

We decided to replace the factory batteries today. The truck has a December 2005 build date which means that the OE batteries were nearly 9 years old. I'm hoping that the new DieHard Platinum batteries will last another 9 years!

92,506 miles, 05/18/13 Front, Rear, and Stablizer Shocks (Bilstein)
104,996 miles, 05/24/14 Upper and Lower ball joints (Carli)
105,345 miles, 06/05/14 Front Rotors and Pads (EBC Rotors and Pads)
105,345 miles, 06/05/14 Harmonic Balancer (Fluidampr)
111,647 miles, 11/16/14 Batteries (DieHard Platinum Group 65)
