Very nice. One I like also is the Ford Raptor. Don't have the $$ to buy one but if I did, I think it would be on top of list. The Raptor now has 6.2L engine for 2011 and seems to be a real tough beast for off road application.

main reason looking at thsi 4x4 pickup is it a 2 litre with good power, parts are easier and cheaper than jeep, and road tax be cheaper as well as insurance, will leave it for a year old i think rather than buying new as get better value, one of these new would be 32k euros new,was looking at dodge nitro which is 2.7 diesel engine but would cost 1400 euros road tax per year so that out,the vw Amarok will cost 560 euros road tax for year, costs too have anything like a 4x4 in Ireland when it comes too big engine is mad money

Just read several articles and 1st drive reports on the Amarok. Sounds like a real nice setup and wish we could see them in the U.S. One article mentions: with TDI engine, would have to clean up emissions for U.S. spec's?? I don't get that! V.W already offers a 50 state compliant 2.0L diesel in the Jetta models as option. I own one: 09 Jetta Sportwagon which I bought new in Dec. 08. Have driven it on a few long road trips of over 2k miles round trip and love it. To bad the mentality here in the U.S. is "so" anti-diesel. People and organizations that are MOST critical in trashing the diesel engine NO NOTHING about them, don't own or drive them and are total hypocrits, driving their "green energy" electrics and hybrids that in the long run with counting whats involved in the manufacturing of them, disposal of toxic battery systems, and the fact the semi-electric hybrids are not a practical vehicle for the average size family that does not live in the big cities and commutes to work. We'll just see how long the electrics and hybrids last before they have to be o-hauled or power systems replaced in the $10k range. I'll take my diesels any day for all around performance, comfort, longevity and something I can drive 600 miles on a tank of diesel.

31 mpg average, hauls 4 people, goes off road and has open-air back to haul things that smell plus it can pull too. Pretty impressive...never see it stateside. :(

I think dodge has a kit to compete with the ford raptor. They were very comparable but the dodge was somewhat less expensive I believe. Someone did a review of both vehicles .. it could have been topgear or someone else. If i can find it Ill post it.
