Anyone ever wheel one of these? I was behind a fairly new one in traffic the other day, and it must have been slightly lifted, decent tires, but nothing rediculous. Looks like it was IRS and a LOT of clearance under the diffs! Anyone have any experience?

I've seen a lot of them racing in the desert races. High-speed stuff. Never seen one setup to krawl. I imagine you'd have no end of upgrade options. They make bolt-on stuff for Mitsus before they're even done designing.

I've heard that they're better offroad than most people give them credit for. Im assuming you rtalking about the real Montero and not the Montero Sport right. The Sports seemed like an Izuzu to me.

I had a '91 Montero 3.0L and hated it off road, but was nice to drive daily. I liked my 89 Trooper 2.8L a LOT more off road, but it was hard on the kidneys as a daily (I had 'em both at the same time, both on 31x10.5 Bridgestone Dueler AT's)

Heck, the Montero even had little vents that blew cold air at you!

the KJ is better at both than the 1st gen Montero, and not QUITE as good as the Trooper off pavement...but I like it enough to keep making payments, LOL
