Got rid of my 2004 GTO and 2006 KJ renegade to pick up this 2012 tacoma double cab short bed 4x4 TRD sport (auto). Finished my first mod today (with less then 50 miles on it 8) )

plasti-dipped front grille emblem.

Image

Within the next 3 weeks... it will have tinted front windows, weathertech floor liners, avs in channel vent visors, all emblems shaved, TRD sport decals replaced with flat black ones with a mtn bike on them, plasti-dip wheels black, tint the tail lights/3rd brake light with VHT nite shade and PPG clear coat, 2500k yellow fog light bulbs... then if im feel adventurous bake my headlights and black out the inside (except the reflectors).

future mod's - either tonneau cover or Supertop canvas cap, tailgate locking handle, bed safe, OME lift, 33x12.5 duratracs, custom grille with hella black magic's mounted behind the grille.

heres a few general pictures.

Thanks! it's only temporary till i get a custom grille :)

Today i took off the mudflaps, took off all the emblems, took off the TRD sport ugly stickers, added a tinted plate cover. Starting to look a little better! within a week or so i should have the wheels blacked out, inchannel vent visors, weathertech liners, and tinted windows.

then soon as i get back to PA i'll tint the tails/headlights.

Does the trd sport come with a factory rear locker?

So Alex, after having the Goat and the KJ both as manuals.... How's the Auto-Trans treating ya?

haha! i have to stick around ATLEAST till i hustle my spare front diff. :JEEPIN:

the auto trans... well.. i'm pretty sure there is a hole punched through the floor of my tacoma (the size of my left foot) where the clutch should/would be haha. besides that i really enjoy it. sure i miss shaking hands with what i drive but i've made my decision that it's better left for sports cars. However this truck does downshift WAY more on the highway then my KJ with 4.10's did. i only had to use 5th gear once in a blue moon.. even in WV. also find i pay more attention when diving a manual.

what do you guys think about this bed side decal (back by the tail light). it came with a bright dumb red/white one... not big on the 'turd' decal but i think this one (and color of this one) would look good on my truck. Dont know if i want anything on it or not though. plus i like the mtn bike. opinion?

a few... 35% window tint on fronts, i baked and blacked out the headlights.. added 6 tiedowns under the factory bed bolts.. added a 'tacoma' bedmat and cut it to expose the tiedowns. added a bed extender that doubles as a nice section of the bed to put stuff when it's folded in. Added a lock for the tail gate that i wired up to work off the keyless remote or interior electric door lock switch. "locked" it locks the gate/all doors. "unlocked once" unlocks just the drivers door "unlocked twice" unlocks the drivers/passengers/tail gate.

also i just got a cast iron moose bottle opener that im going to bolt in the bed... i'll grab some pictures when i get that installed

after the bottle opener install its pretty much done except maybe some LED bed lights. when it needs tires i'll get a lift and 33's :)

thanks! got it on ebay. took a lot of tuning up with a dremel before i installed it. It's cast iron so where the 2 parts were put together there was a seam.. and it was restricting the bottle opening function. so i shaped it out under the teeth and now it works perfectly! also the screw holes needed a lot of shaping so my tapered allen bolts would mount flush. it was a fun little project this morning... and a great $20 investment.
