Got news for you guys, the inside of the KJ is all plastic too aside from the seats and carpet. Maybe the FJ is more bland (have to see for myself) but I did read it is meant to hose out. I also like the small size of the KJ (why does everyone insist on going BIGGER?) but I bet the FJ would spank a stock KJ in everything but a tight squeeze offroad. Also, since it's built off a shortened 4Runner chassis, there's already some aftermarket for it! Big plus.

My doors and steering wheel have leather.....not trying to brag or anything.........

I'm just gonna be honest here...if I could get a FJ, I'd take it over my KJ anyday. I just really like that thing....that and the 4runner. That's not to say that I don't love the KJ too, cuz I definitely do, but I'd still take the FJ

I have read that it is a shortened FourRunner chassis, so the hard parts are proven. It is bigger than I anticipated from the mag. pics.

I did not like it, personally. To each his own.

The high octane bit looks more commonplace. The easiest way to boost HP is compression increases. But this requires higher octane to prevent knocking ( or timing retardation, which defeats the purpose). Most people have been unwilling to accept the premium fuel requirement in exchange for HP in less-then-luxury vehicles. But people will probably swallow it without comment as it is being done by a japanese company. It allows Toyota to up the HP figure. If jeep bumped the compression/advanced the timing of their engines for HP bragging rights, and then required premiom fuel, I'll bet that there would be screaming and moaning over it. Oh well.

I love my KJ's but the FJ is a killer out of the box. Might be a little bigger, but I think it will wheel great and mod real nice. I won't buy one any time soon though as I am Knee deep in Jeeps and really don't see any reason to buy Anything new for quite some time now. I can't wait to see the 1st one that is SFA'd though!

I read where over 100 companies had "measured" the FJ for the aftermarket.

There is a 4 inch lift for it already.....man, how would that be ?

1st year and there's already a 4" lift...

I saw my first in town today at the dealership. I parked my libby right next to it and i must say nice looking vehicle but the libby, to me, looked more trail capable. It just looked to nice. It definately looked beefy but i dont know. I liked it. Dont think i would ever own one...

Everything I have read says it should be quite capable. I'm totally jealous of the locking diff. I don't care for the look one bit though- the old FJs look alot less awkward and honda element-ish. There's 2 at the dealer in town, maybe I'll go test one and do a write up.

I'm surprised that no one is belittling the IFS on it.

I do like some of the color combinations for the new FJs. But after driving this diesel Liberty, there is no comparison. Off road, the diesel is unstoppable. We may not have the clearance, but with a set of Boulder Bars it really hasn't affected me other than some exciting four wheeling! There are times I think the little CRD will tear itself right out of the engine bay when I'm hammering up a rock/mud/tree incline with the turbo just screaming all the way up! :D

Yeah...IFS in a Jeep is sacreligious. But IFS in a Toyota is the greatest thing since sliced bread?? I don't understand.

Funny how the media can shape people's entire views of a vehicle. There is NOTHING a FJ can do that a KJ can't. Got diesel?

That is exactly what I thought!!!

They ruined the FJ!!

I thought that was supposed to bring it back, I do see the old style cues, but I think it looks too Cute for an FJ!! UH OH, KJ owner calling something else cute!!!

As for the fact no one is bashing the IFS, Toy has been IFS front for a while, this is nothing new for those guys. We were the first for JEEP therefore, our KJ is the

I have to agree with USAFCOP, we are the first and therefore the evil change. Toyota has been wheelin IFS trucks for decades now, so it's proven stuff.

4x4 1/2-ton j-trucks and wagoneers had IFS D27 fronts in the early-to-mid 60's as an option.

I think the only "problem" with IFS on the Liberty is the juvenile fanboy mentality of some who think that fun can't be had unless it's had their way.

Wow, that thing is ugly. It looks like a cross between a classic FJ40 and a Honda Element. The styling leaves me cold, I don't care how offroad capable it is.
