In vehicle I use a Garmin nuvi 200W. It does everything I need it to do and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
On the trails I use a Garmin Etrex yellow. Only cost around 100 bucks and we've found almost 2100 caches with it. But the Garmin 60CSX is a great one if you want to spend some money $400-$450±.

I am a huge fan of Garmin - between my father and I we have 5 of 'em and out of them all I like the GPSMAP60 series, he carries a c and I carry a cs. They are great on batteries, easy to use one handed, you can get a CLA adapter to plug it into your car and use it for street navigation, and has a decent size screen.

Bought my Garmin 276c to prepare and do a Marocco trip in may 08... Never "lost" anytwhere... :D . Fantastic. Large screen (3.75") and 3000 wpts available. Sand & waterproof. Can use a lot of very detailed maps (1/25000) for offroading. I also use it on boat. Batteries working for more than 6 hours. Only one trouble in Europe : the expensive price !
