Post subject:  For all you Garmin owners

NOTICE: I have finally found an online hosting site for the files. The information below has been updated for the new location.
Corwyyn

There has been a thread going over on KJCountry.com concerning a custom Liberty vehicle icon for the Nuvi/Streetpilot units. After a fair bit of pondering, tinkering, cursing various photo manipulation program developers, more pondering and tinkering, we finally have a version that looks good on the GPS screen. There are two files available for download - one file (srf files) contains the Flame Red, Patriot Blue and Stone White versions; the other file (new-Libertys) contains the Forest Green, Garnet Red, Black and Khaki versions. Click here to go to the page with the files, and either right-click (control-click on Mac) and download he files, or click on each one and select the 'Download' link on the new page that opens.

These custom vehicles should work on any Garmin unit that allows for changing the displayed vehicle. They have been tested on my c530 and a Nuvi 200, but if you run into any problems please let me know.

Just for a teaser, here is what one looks like (roof rack not included) :

Enjoy!

This should be a sticky in this section so it doesn't 'dissappear'

Directions for Windows:
1) Plug your garmin into a USB port on your computer, then open My Computer and open up the Garmin drive.
2) Look for a folder labelled 'Vehicles'. Open it up and copy/move the file for the color of your choice into it.
3) Disconnect the GPS from the computer, start it up and go to the tools menu, there should be a button labelled 'Change Vehicle' (or something similar). Select that and you'll see all the preloaded vehicles, just scroll thru till you come across the Jeep and select.
4) Sit back and enjoy seeing your Jeep move around on the screen as you drive down the road :)

Directions for Mac:
I don't do Mac.

Directions for Linux:
C'mon, yer kiddin' right? You know how to install an entire operating system and can't figure this out? :P

Corwyyn,

Just got a 255w and trying to get the Jeep Liberty icon, but your link in your OP is working.

EDIT: Found it saved on my hard drive from a while back. Thanks! :D

Thanks for the heads-up! I had those hosted on my personal web space thru my former ISP - when I moved and closed the account they went buh-bye. I'll see if I can get it updated this week.

Macs are uploaded the same as winblows. Plug in the Nuvi. Go to (or create) the ehicles folder on the Garmin Drive, and drop the new vehicles there.

Post subject:  Re: For all you Garmin owners

You might download the current sets and check the white one out - it looks silver due to the way it was rendered out in the 3D program. If it doesn't work for you let me know and I'll see what I can do. You'll want to download the 'srf_files' set, it has the white one in it. The link to the downloads can be found in the first post of the thread^^^

Thanks Corwyyn for taking the time to create these icons and posting the links.

I just bought a Garmin nuvi 255W and could wait to load a Liberty icon into it. The Willy's Jeep is sweet too 8)

Any color updates on the KJ?
How about a Cactus Green one?
