Post subject:  hiking in the cleveland metroparks

The wife and I went for a hike this past weekend in the Hinkley Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. It was pretty cold, I think around 25F and very snowy! But we were bundled up so it was a good time. The only problem was, we got started a little late and trudging through the snow took longer then usual and we got caught in the dark about an hour away from the end, but it all turned out good! :D

Always heard that was a great area to hike in, would not think it was part of...CLEVELAND Park System  Had some Apartment Managers that I would inspect their properties and they always wanted me to come up for a weekend and go there. Is that the one the train runs through as well or am I thinking of another place in that area?

Some great shots though, Jon
Thanks for sharing

actually, the one with the train is Cuyahoga Valley Nat'l Park. HUGE place with LOTS of trails. and the cleve. metroparks has a lot of land and lots of good hiking. i know its hard to believe, with ne ohio, cleveland-akron area being so urbanized, theres actually a really huge amount of hiking, biking, camping, boating etc. available here. theres the national park, cleve metroparks, summit co. metroparks, and then all the preserves and conservation areas and such owned under the ODNR. lots of stuff to do! :D

I used to live close to Hinkley. We used to swim below the dam and dive off of it. Have you ever gone out there to see the...YUK...buzzards?
