I had a Taurus 1911 and hated that I sold it. With that price I may...... just may pick one up. Sigh...... I need to stop spending money like this LOL

I and my Wife have about a dozen Taurus handguns .22 / 9mm / .38 spl. / .44 mag. / .45acp. I would say they are all very reliable and I've never had a problem with any of them. Everytime I pull the trigger they go bang.

Wow, this is a very low price for a new Taurus 1911. Good reviews on this handgun.

like with jeeps, you get what you pay for...taurus are loaded with mim and cheap metal/parts. Not to mention customer service. just sayin, they are notorious.

Is that just hearsay from your friends or personal experience?

Taurus has replaced 3 barrels and a few other normal wear items for me for free, I didn't even pay shipping. I did have to return the old ones similar to a "core" but for different reasoning. They also sent me two replacement mags and a loader as a replacement for one mag with a broken spring.

None of the replaced parts were under 60,000 rds.

biggest thing I've seen people do to make them have bad experience with taurus is the same issues i've seen with any other stainless to composite lower

crap ammo, crap brass, improper cleaning, failure to use quality clp or inappropriate use of frame grease or none at all causing accelerated frame wear between steel and composite parts

just curious if you've actually got a bad experience, pretty sure we all know gun manu's are similar to car manu's when people have a favorite everything else gets a bad rap

the only verified "bad experience" with taurus' CS or their warranty out of the few dozen times I've asked someone this question, was a guy that wanted to keep his old barrel and blamed Taurus for not allowing him - which is a Federal issue not a Taurus issue

my only complaint with Taurus on their duty or carry models is the lack of sight options

just to be clear I have no intention of this post coming off abrasive or anything, I'm genuinely interested in hearing whatever problem you've had with them

Love my Taurus PT92. 2000+ rounds and not one failure to feed, fire, or eject. Clean and oil after every trip to the range. The only thing I have I have noticed about it is that it has a preference for 124gr ammo. Low left with 115gr and high right with 147gr. 124gr is pretty much dead on. Don't know if you would consider that a "problem" though. As far as the Judge goes, I'm eyeing the new S&W Governor instead. 6 rounds of 410, 45 colt, or 45 ACP. Crimson Trace grips available too. Nice!

Ditto. Years with my 24/7 without a single issue. Shot true with tight groups, no ftf's, or fte's In 5 years. Miss that gun. My wives millenium pro same thing. Wasnt my favorite gun but I would trust it on the night stand.

Its been well documented that taurus 1911 are quality pieces, often outperforming other pistols that are 3x the price.

Oh and the PT92 is 10x better than the original beretta. I hate caring the pos at work.

I actually sell firearms for a living here in VA. I think most people feel reservations about Taurus due to its not so smooth start and the fact that they are in a cheaper price range. That aside though, I'm not a fan of Taurus at all. I've handled, fired, and sold hundreds of them, and frankly I find them to be extremely inconsistent. I've never picked up a Taurus that felt as solid as a Kimber, Colt, Springfield, or S&W.

Not playing the debbie downer, but If I like you ill probably recommend against the Taurus when you come see me. The Millenium is a pretty popular gun, we sell a ton of them...because they're cheap. But at the end of the day it really is about what you want to spend and how it feels in your hand.

The newest piece of my 870 build showed up yesterday, a Choate police style forend. Much better than the big chunky Blackhawk forend that shipped with the Knoxx stock. 18.5 barrel and a 2 or three round tube extension coming up next. Might add a heat shield and side saddle after that, but they are not really functional add ons. More for looks than anything else.

both of my taurus are high right with remington 180g fmj's (40) and 115g (9mm)

dead on point aim with bonded winchester jacket hollows at 12y and both roughly one inch low of point aim at 50 feet

all of my taurus barrels have been high right regardless of the ammo for the first ~ 1000 rds

they aren't as nice as my kimber 1911, or my springfield xdm or 1911 ops but also cost less than 1/4th as much and with the right ammo and break in hits exactly what i'm aiming at

so yeah.. no true complaints

my taurus 92 was pretty decent, better than any of the worn out beretta 92's i had to carry, like the sights better than whats on my 24/7 or the slim 9 but theyre defense firearms so i didn't really sweat fine sights, i may swap the front post of the 24/7 to a fiber sometime down the line or something else depending on what i get an itch for when some more come out

Well I picked mine up from the FFL about an hour ago. All mechanics are tight. Barrel ramp could be polished a little more.

Expect the range report by Sunday.

Real light trigger pull, seems less than 3lbs (based of experience with my Glock, 92 and rifles). Shoots darn good IMO, not one issue went through 50 rds of PCM tonight.

I'm pretty sure I'm not forgetting anything...

I plan to build an AR-15 of some sort in the near future, probably based on a bushmaster with lots of magpul goodies (gas piston, B.A.D. lever, B.U.I.S, Angled foregrip, sling, etc.)

My tax return is getting me a Magnum Research Desert Eagle 1911. it is catching a lot of flack from 1911 purists. I will say that I was a HUGE 1911 purist, I have a Kimber Ultra CDP II, and have fired many 1911s, but this gun has me SOLD, fit and finish is superb, have to take one apart to see if it needs a bit of polishing, trigger pull is light and crisp, and it shoots very very well for a stock gun, and at under $700. please. :lol:

lol.. put an M16 front sight post on that thing and you'd be zero'ed Das :P

just raise the rear you'll be alright, you're consistent, that's what really matters anyway ;)

Your kidding right? Hell, that's not bad! Pretty good actually. Everyone want's to be able to put em all through the same hole, (which it looks like you did quite a bit there) but in reality if your not competition shooting getting all the rounds on an 8 1/2x11 sheet of paper consistently at 10-15 yards is good enough for self defense shooting with a handgun. Anything further out than that I would grab a rifle or shotgun for (if available).

Compitition! Haha Thanks. It's just that I'm not pleased that I kept shooting low. I'm knocking it up to first time I've shot a 1911 in about 17 years. I do much better with my 92 and glock.

Your right though, for self defense they would be great shots and any two would have done the job. And honesty if they aren't within 15-20' I'm probably not going to take a shot. Sure as he'll not going to choose a sidearm for a 40'+ shot.

Long Guns:
Marlin 30-30 that my Dad bought it in 1958 I believe, and gave to me when I was 14. My main deer hunting rifle.
No Name .410 shotgun I bought for $40 when I was 12. Kills rabbits dead. :ROTFL:
Browning .22 rifle for "plinking".
Single shot 20 gauge that was old when my Dad got it at 14. Refinished the stock & forearm a few years back.

I have others in the gun safe at my Dad's place, but these are what I have immediately available.
