You guys are making me jealous. You guys have early seasons. Our trout season opens on April 1st and bass season doesn't open until the second Saturday in June. I have a trout stream across the street and there are about a thousand lakes up here so I can't wait even though it is still cold out. |

I did not know some states have fishing seasons. The only season we have here is for trout and they have to stock them here in the winter. The water is to warm in the summer. |

We have seasons in some waters, but for the most part, I believe that is because those locations are remote and dangerous for people to access in the winter. |

Fishing seasons for trout and bass. You can catch them all year and release them but you can't keep them before the season. Stocked trout I always release. It is the natives that are the best tasting anyway. I always keep only what I am going to eat and release the rest. "The Battenkill" and "The Ausable" are the best native trout rivers here and hold trout all year. Gotta do something while I am waiting for bass season to open......besides I need 4X4 to get to a couple of my favorite spots..........haha |

Fished a bit in college, but I was always more of a hunter. Then I moved here to water's edge and found that there's not much hunting available when you live on the beach, so I'm getting back into fishing. Shame I sold off all my rigs and gear. Gotta buy some more. First trip will be surf-casting, second trip will be on the James river on Memorial Day weekend. |

I am a fly fisher. These days mainly trout in streams and rivers. I fly fish too. I also tie my own flies. Ive been fishing for almost 19 years and love it. My fav fishing is in a float tube with my fly rod. |

My dad taught me the art of casting a fly rod when I was a kid I won't tell you how long ago that was because it will just make me feel old), and I've been tying for probably 20 years now, although not as much as I once did. My favorite fresh water would be standing in a trout stream casting for browns, followed by rainbow and brook. I've also cast for coho and lake trout in Lake Michigan. But after trout streams, fishing saltwater flats for bonefish, tarpon and permit is the ultimate rush on a fly. I once did sportsman (big game) off shore and that was cool but the flats are my favorite in salt. I've fished the flats off the Florida Keys including outer cays, Belize and two islands in the Bahama's. I'd really like to go back again someday soon. I have 8 fly rods including 2 bamboo, and a dozen or so various reels. I don't do lures or bait, just flies. |

My plans changed just hours before I was to start the Memorial Day weekend, so I called a buddy up in Nortwest Wisconsin and he said; "hellyeah, c'mon up!" The fishing was good on the Kinnickinnic River in St. Croix County, Wisconsin. This is a class 1 wild brown trout stream, class 2 for brookie and class 5 for Rainbow.
I only fly fish catch & release. Had a great time casting flies and drinking beer with a old Army buddy. |
