What do you ride? I've been doing my homework and have pretty much decided on a Honda. After test riding both a Rincon GPS and a 700XX, I'm undecided as to which one I will enjoy most? My intention is riding trails and not so much racing.

Yeah, I did some homework on brands which is why I decided on Honda. If I wanted "go fast racer", I might have also considered a Raptor.

All we ride is Polaris. They are solid machines and we have never had a problem with them. A few of them have been rolled, buried under sand, hit bumpers and many more things...a few of the members in the family have scares to prove it too, lol. We have 1 Scrambler that is older...about a 94 or something like that then the rest are all trailblazers 450+. We usually just do trails with them and of course hunting. :)

I admit, you can't go wrong with a Honda. But I only owned Polaris. Had a 97 Scrambler 400, a 94 400L (later became known as the Sportsman) and owned a 98 Big Boss 6x6. Loved them all and rode them very hard in the rivers and mountains when I lived in Alaska. They were very dependable and treated me well. Good luck with which ever you choose. I loved atv'ing.

And for what it's worth, Polaris is an American company. :)

ive got a older polaris ranger that's got a * load of hours on it and never had a problem with it, only thing ive had to do is replace the tires once

had a honda fourtrax recon but didn't keep it long, simply didn't need it with the polaris around

i've got a yamaha big bear 400 4x4...to my knowledge it is the only utility atv that you can still foot-shift (non-electric) if you care for that....i kinda like it, still has that "sport" feeling to it...also you don't have to worry about an auto-tranny going out.

i've got an '03, and it's still kicking strong. i've had it trail riding a couple times, but mostly use it around the yard for hauling/plowing.

it's also selectable 4x4, so you can keep it in 2wd when you don't need 4wd. atv's are much easier to handle and steer when in 2wd.

only thing about it now is compared to the newer models, it's prolly a bit undersized motor-wise (386cc) but i think it holds its own.

just checked yamaha's website and it looks like the new models have independent rear suspension now, so that helps with the ride. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outdoor/pro ... specs.aspx

Got a 03 polaris trailblazer 250 got it for real cheap after selling my old yamaha warrior 350.
Never had a problem with it til now when the shift linkage gear stripped out.. so when it get warmer out i might just have to tack it back on.

I'm in the market for one. We have 5 acres and I wanted to buy a tow behind brush mower. At least that's the excuse i gave my wife
I'm a total rookie though. The only time I've ever even been on one was last year during our honeymoon. Loved it
