Does anyone have a line on where I can acquire GPS software and/or a GPS unit with Central American roads? A topo type map would be a huge plus but anything would work. I have the Garmin world map loaded on my phone but when I visited family in Guatemala last year, it didn't work very well and only has major highways listed. My sister lives in Nicaragua and I would like to do some wheeling in her Land Rover next year as well(I know, it's not a Jeep). |

Right now no one maps this country very well. It is rolling out that soon it will happen. Canada was not mapped will till 2006. I know becuase I worked for a GPS producer. We use to source raw map data to turn into usable maps for all over the world. in 2010 March we shut down. But when I left I can say safley that no major company had any use full data. Now with that said, there are smaller compaines who are driving each road and recording GPS signal and selling this data. But they are just not that good. RIght now if you can find it on paper you are better off. |
