My 2 kids and I found our first Geocache this past week... the garmin showed our arriving at the gps coords, the unit chiming as we arrived, we then located the cache.... however, the cache is not listed as found in our gps unit, and I see no way to "show as found" on the list... and I am not sure if this is something you have to do yourself or if it is automatically done by the unit?

You've probably figured it out by now given when you posted this post, but I just got a Garmin 450 this x-mas, and you have to get to the screen that shows information about the cache, "log attempt" etc. and you hit "log attempt" then it will let you "show found"

It took me a little bit to figure that one out, but easy once I knew. :)

Cool, I just got one last month, early b-day gift and so far it is nice. Not 100% sold on it. Like my older Etrex HCx but will give this one a go. Will be the first time "using" it tomorrow. Hitting a few caches. :)

OK at first I was ready to throw this GPS out the window and run it over a few times. I am slowly getting the hang of it though. Biggest gripe I have about it is really the beaner...why is it mounted that way? Is it just me or should it be the other way around so that you can have it clipped on a shoulder strap and just lift it up to see where the heck you are going? Am I wrong?

I watch my caching friends fight with them 'fancy' GPSr's and I just shake my head, grab my trusty Etrex 'Yellow' and find the cache!

I would agree, the beaner is not designed to hold it "properly", I usually just hold it anyway, or just flip it up, I can pay attention to the arrow direction upside down/ sideways, whatever.

I would say all the other functions of this unit offset that little annoyance in my mind, but I've not really cached with any other unit, so I don't have a good point of comparison.
