Anyone here have a off-road style trailer or camper set-up?
Started thinking about making a real small pop-up style and figured I would look for some ideas!
Open to all suggestions or ideas and pictures are worth a thousand words!

Fulltimer bought an Ipod and got the factory lift kit installed, he does take it off road. About any popup can be made used for offroad, add a lift block, slight larger tires, then you can get a swivel ball/pindle hitch for off camber stuff.

R-Pod not iPod. I don't think you can camp in an I Pod. I know, stuff happens. I'm getting old (63) and soft so I need the comforts. The R-Pod has everything you need in it.

Those are pretty nice but way out of budget!
Being a college kid, money is tight and comforts are not necessary.
I have the first step of plans (nothing really set in stone but more of just ideas) for making a 6x8 trailer with simple leaf spring suspensionthat the top flips out and a tent like canvas with a steel tube frame inside, almost like a pop-up but without a hard top. It would not need a bathroom, although possibly in the future a small fresh water tank would be nice, so I could have a sink.
Also a propane stove may be nice, but not a necessity, and could always be added later.
I was looking at getting some canvas material and sewing up my own top being very simple with just a single zip up door and two zip out windows with screens.

Similar in style to this:

But with a solid base that sits about 2' high so it can have hard cabinets and a dinette/couch in it, but so it can fold close with the canvas inside.

I've always liked the Fleetwood/Coleman Cobalt pop-ups.

Can see some in this thread:

http://www.popupportal.com/index.php?topic=32671.0

They are sold under the Coleman label (older ones under fleetwood).

EDIT: Forgot to add, the bottom trailer in the post is the Fleetwood Neon.

As I was writing I kept thinking that didn't look right, but the proper name escaped me.
My Trailmanor could come with lift kit, but I have never needed it.

Well I posted an ad on craigslist looking for a free repairable pop-ups or small utility trailers just to have a frame, and got a response from a guy who has a pop-up in his backyard he just wants to get rid of :D
This could be the perfect start to an off-road pop-up trailer build!
Granted I have no experience with this, but for free, its a good way to learn!
