I don’t have a timeframe or hiking route in mind, but I thought it was worth posting. :CAMPING:

We might be interested.

My wife's goal is to go check out the Mogollon Rim area (jeep, hike, etc). That's not the Grand Canyon, of course.

Oh, the Mogollon Rim......... 8) I know a guy who found a mummified conquistador (dressed in armor) in a cave not far from that area. But that's all I can say.

Well, here's the kinds of things we've been thinking about doing. My wife wanted to spend some time around the Mogollon Rim, near Payson. That's not crazy far from the Grand Canyon so it's possible we could combine the two.

My wife has talked specifically about wanting to spend some time on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We've also been talking about visiting the Arizona Strip http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/fo/arizona_strip_field.html, Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument. That could be combined with a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon NP. Because of the remoteness safety is more of a concern and we would make a special effort to be part of a group for that.

We've also talked about participating in a couple days of the Lost Jeep Safari to Moab if it happens next year. That could be combined with a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Though on our own we would more likely combine it with a trip to Capitol Reef NP, or Canyonlands NP, etc in Utah.

I would prefer to save the more strenuous hiking for the Fall when the temperatures have dropped. We only live 3.5 hours from Flagstaff; therefore we are somewhat flexible on the timeframe.
