Currently swapping a ford HP44 and a 9 inch into my KJ and am trying to find information on the gearing to go with. I want to run 35s when done and I’ve seen Troy went with 5.13 gears but I haven’t found if that was enough. Anybody still here running 35’s and 5.13 or 5.38 gearing? Also this is in a 3.7 with the 42rle and will be using a Rubi transfer case.

Well since the SFA section is long dead at this point I’ll just go with the 5.13 gears and see how it drives. Since I’m doing all the work I’ll only be out the cost of gears and my time anyway.

I would take a look at a 42RLE chart. Do you plan on daily driving it or is it going to be a crawler?

I'd be curious how they work out for your needs too. Just a thought, but since it's also your daily, you may want to consider the 5.38s down the line if you find the 5.13s leave you wanting a bit more low-end grunt.
